PFT:

Lions coach Jim Schwartz didn’t understand why defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh was penalized for a hit Sunday on Bears quarterback Jay Cutler. So he also won’t understand this: The NFL has fined Suh $15,000.

Schwartz said the video footage didn’t support referee Ed Hochuli’s claim that Suh took a shot at the back of Cutler’s head, but the NFL apparently thinks Hochuli made the right call in flagging Suh for unnecessary roughness.

The penalty was costly for the Lions: It gave the Bears first-and-goal at the 7-yard line, and on the next play Chicago scored the game-winning touchdown.

Suh spent Tuesday at ESPN’s headquarters and was asked several times whether he expected to be fined, but he did his best to avoid saying anything about it. When told of the fine today, Cutler told Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune, “I’m not surprised by that.”

Suh is a very intense, aggressive guy (on the field) and it doesn't help that he has enough strength to make just about any QB/RB/WR in the NFL look like a 12 year old when he tackles him.

However, there is a fine line between that and just being a dirty player. For instance, James Harrison tackles guys and does little cheap, dirty extra-curricular stuff after the play. (Twisting ankles, stepping on/over, etc.) I'm struggling to remember the head-twisting play you guys keep talking about, but I think Suh is an honorable guy with a few unfortunate tackles. Dirty players have intent to do cheap, chippy shit that they don't need to do.

By the way... I think the original post in this thread lists Earl Thomas as a safety for Denver... doesn't he play for Seattle?

From NFL Draft Breakdown:

Joe Haden—CB—Cleveland Browns
Interceptions in 4 straight weeks tend to get you noticed. That’s exactly what Joe Haden accomplished this past Sunday versus Miami. Along with the interception, Haden’s 5th of the year which places him 2nd among all rookies, the 1st round pick from Florida also totaled 6 tackles and 4 passes defended. His season total of 15 passes defended places Haden 4th in the entire NFL in that category, not just rookies. Haden is playing like a veteran and has the stats to back it up. Don’t be surprised if this rookie earns a Pro Bowl berth at the end of the year.

Draft Breakdown

Haden trivia: He threw 80 TD passes in high school.

Suh is so bad he makes Reginald White look like a puss.

That guy would annihilate Brock Lesner with no training, he's freaking incredible. Nice guy, but he has a mean streak to him on the field, that's for sure.

Haden is having a fine rookie season that shows promise. As of right now two-three players are ahead of him for DROY. I'm just happy to have a rookie in the running to be honest.
