Firing Mangini is a terrible idea. Just turrable. Especially if the replacement is to be Gruden.

This season is Mangini's first as our coach with a legitimate front office. Mangini finally just gets to coach. And we've improved (save for yesterday's bumbling).

I say give #theProcess another season.

Not advocating fire EM or him staying (3 more games to go), but he gets zero free pass on last year imo. He shoulders some of the responsibility for the front office issues last year.

You're right, he does.

But it's also possible that he realized that he needs other folks to do that for him. As someone else pointed out, we will never know the whole story or the truth of it all, all we have is speculation about what went down last year.

Regardless, many coaches have tried to do it all with little to no success. I believe it is possible for an HC to do it all, but it takes time. Mangini isn't there yet and either by choice or by chance he had too much responsibility last year.

Now he has the opportunity to take a step back, learn some more, and move forward. But only if we are patient.

To me Hiway, that is still letting him off the hook for last year and sweeping it under the rug. Last year just goes as another tick mark in the bad decision column. When it's bad decision on top of bad decision it's hard for me to go "he's learning from his mistakes", because he's not showing that he is. While A and B may not be the same scenario, there is always room for applied knowledge between the two.

My God, not the "Mangini sucked as the GM" crap again?

Mangini was FIRED as GM by Holmgren. FIRED. Without ceremony. That is in the past and has no bearing on his future as the Browns head coach.

You are more than welcome to bash whatever you wish about Mangini's non-coaching responsibilities from last year. Just know that all you're doing is gnashing teeth.

As for Harrison, considering him as having production when he gains 20 yards rushing is a joke. Harrison has had one game of contribution since his trade. One.

Also, who was responsible for personnel decisions when we traded Harrison? Oh yeah, that was Heckert.

Look, I'm not married to Mangini. I'm just tired of the week to week cry for his head. That's all.

Mangini wasn't fired as GM, because he never was GM. The Koko incident happened because Koko wanted Phil powers. It was why Mangini got a reprieve.

Mangini was the driving force behind the Haden pick fwiw. People miss that ALL the time.

Greythan no one is starting the EM was crap at GM thing again. All I am saying is the front office situation last year doesn't absolve EM of the record for last year combined with this year. That issue doesn't give it a free pass/sweep under the rug imo, since he was part of that issue (i.e. the turmoil, the GM choice, the battle for control of the 53 man roster, etc.). That whole mess falls under "bad decisions" in my book. Does that warrant him being fired by it's self, of course not. But it is all part of the whole story when reviewing EM's two years, when this year ends. That stuff, the record last year, what happened in all 16 games last year, all 16 games this year, training camps for both year, all fall in the review in my book.

Kokinis was supposed to have control of the 53 man roster, according to his contract. That was the basis of the grievance he filed after being fired. CLE then paid him off rather than going to arbitration.

According to what source? As far as I have seen that was "group decision".

Wasn't Haden drafted after Kokinis was already gone?
