Both of those teams have established QB's.... Belichick has been in New England for 10 years. Payton in New Orleans going on 5 years. We have had at least 5 new coaching staffs/GM's in that same time period bb has been in New England... OH..not to mention having a lot more talent overall does not hurt. But that also comes with stability at the top and not having a new guy come in and tear it down every 3 years.
Mangini took over a nightmare/disaster from Romeo.. We have a 2nd year coaching staff..dealing with a first year management team.. Your going to have ups and downs and inconsistency. Until we get a managment/coaching staff that is consistent there for a while..your not going to have a team that's consistent.. We have instability at the QB situation. Every qb on the roster is different from last year. All 3 QB's have been injured for extended periods this year. 2 guys we know are not starters and a 3rd we are HOPING can be.. We also have limited talent around that instability at QB.. To expect stability and consistent play from a team in and unstable situation at President. GM, and Coach ...well its....ummm... stupid to expect that... |
exactly right, changing coaches just because you have a feeling the current one may not be the right one is not going to lead you to winning consistantly. Teams that win consistantly do that because they have 85% or more of the players on the team buying in to the system put in place by the coaching staffs and then all executing that system week in and week out in the same way. and that's what mangini is talking about in the quote I have in one of these threads about the team learning to win consistantly.
You won't get that winning consistancy by changing coaches, at least you won't have it next year. Current players loyal to Mangini won't buy into the new coaches system. and you'll have new players and rookies coming in who will find it harder to buy in with out a solid veteran team already there who has bought in.
I'm going to say this to everyone who wants to fire mangini and I don't care WHO they want to be the next HC. If Mangini is fired, be prepared for me to be a dick around here to the new HC and anyone who likes him. I'll DEMAND that the new HC wins at LEAST 10 games next season and won't tolerate any excuses about "they are learning a new offense or new defense, or the coach turned over x many players". I expect Mangini to win at least 9 games next year or I'll want him fired, so if everyone else is SO convinced that a new unicorn savior coach will be so much better, then by gosh he better win a bunch.
