I'm so tired of the Gruden talk I would almost rather have ANYONE than him right now.. but on a more serious note... I'd rather have: The Chin, John Fox, Jeff Fischer (if available), Marty Shotanabeer, Jason Garrett, Jim Harbaugh, Ron Rivera, Pete Carmichael Jr... there are more.. I'd rather have than Chucky... there are a whole lot of solid coaches out there.. Mike Nolan, Nick Saban, Denny Green, Brian Billick... anyone but Chucky.. PULEEEZZZ.. Oh I know a guy.. His name is mangini.. He's not bad either... Just saying..there are more options than Chuckee Cheeze.

I hated Mangini after 2 games. This year, I actually started to think maybe he was turning this around. I started to see some results. We were losing close games, instead of getting effed in the A every game. Mangini's first draft was a colossal failure but this one that he was merely a voice on has been amazing for us so far. One more great draft like this, coupled with perhaps a new OC, would be fine with me. I think we are progressing and Colt McCoy definitely looks like he has this NFL thing figured out already. He just needs someone who can separate to throw to. I would be OK with Gruden but I think the proper move is to give Mangini another season. It seems like the moment Fujita got injured, the team went to shit. He clearly was a huge part of the leadership on this team, both on and off the field. |

Do you know what's funny? I live in Nashville and people here cannot wait until Jeff Fisher is gone. That's ALL I hear about on local sports radio talk shows. They think he's the most overrated and overcelebrated 8-8 caliber coach the league has ever seen. They're tired of 8-8? Come live in our world for a couple years only to be told we need to be more patient every freakin year. Anyway, here's his Fisher's last 7 years with 2 games to go in 2010: 2004 5-11 2005 4-12 2005 8-8 2007 10-6 2008 13-3 2009 8-8 2010 6-8 In 07 & 08 - they lost the very first playoff game. In fact, Fisher has only won 5 playoff games since 1994 and 3 of those came in the 99 season when they appeared in the Superbowl. That means he's only won 2 playoff games over the other 15 seasons. I always thought he was a good football coach that didn't work for a decent owner. That's not much different than the way I saw Mangini in 2009. I got a little impatient from the Jax game on this season. I know Masters would love to tell me every team has injuries. That's true; BUT they have had 9 cruddy drafts in the last 11 years to compound the issue. We signed Pashos to make St Clair a backup. We signed Yates so Womack could start in the absence of Pashos. What happens when Pashos and Yates get hurt? We're back to the right side of an oline we were compelled to upgrade. Our LB Corps had everyone in the RIOGHT spots when Fujita was healthy. When he went out of the lineup, we're learning why Bowens is always way more effective inside in hook zones than he is out in the flats where he's the last line of defense against some very fast RBs. I'd rather have him inside where his instincts are an asset instead of looking at his footspeed as a liability outide. I think it was evident how much better he looked in 2009, when he moved inside after Jackson got hurt. He became one of our biggest playmakers down the stretch. Anyway, when you're trying to get better and all your potential upgrades are wearing blue jeans to games - it's right back to assuring ourselves that all we gotta do is get a new coach. We've been recycling head coaches and coordinators up the wazoo here; and we're still averaging 4-5 games per season. So let's start from scratch again like everyone wants to do and remind ourselves for the next 3 years "we need to be patient." Yaa, that'll work. - Tom F.

Re: Losing to crap teams as a way of getting fired. Baltimore Ravens head coach Brian Billick was on the heat seat and in 2007, what killed his coaching tenure was giving up a win to then winless Miami Dolphins.

As much as i would love to have chucky as the head coach it is not going to happen for similar reasons that cowher wouldnt take over this mess of a team and if we cant get gruden we should just keep mangini and fire daboll as opposed to making zorn or fox our head coach....yuck! Or holmgren should take to the sideline himself..
