First, the man is too old to be taking a talent-poor team and teaching it how to win.
Second, MH is currently in charge of EVERY facet of the Browns organization. Who is going to do THAT job if he steps down? It's a ludicrous way to run an organization -- hire a guy to run it who abandons it after a year -- and hard to fathom even the Browns would allow that.
Finally, MH hasn't coached in a while. Things move quickly in the NFL and past experience is guarantor of nothing. Look at Gibbs returning. Legends still have to work and it ain't easy to do what NFL coaches do.
Let's hope everything stays just the way it is for another year, at least. It's time to let a professional organization build itself up and not rush things into a new disaster. |
It wouldn't surprise me if Randy Lerner let America decide through reality television. There's a TON of Youth football dads out there in this country that really know how to play Madden video games.
The last head coaching vacancy here got filled with just 1 candidate and just 1 interview. That might have been a lot more extensive than asking RAC if he wants to be a head coach. Maybe the next vacancy interviews a second person and possibly even seeks a reference or two? Then again, that might take more than an hour so don't count on it.
This business owner might not understand how to compete with the Rooneys; but he sure knows how to make futbol fans in England happy.
Yes Virginia there is a Santa Claus. If we can get him to remember Ohio one of these years/decades, football is going to be fun again.
