Browns (5) Cowboys (5) Texans(5) Vikings(5) 49ers(5) Redskins(5) Cardinals(4) Bills(4) Lions(4) Bengals(3) Broncos(3) Carolina Panthers(2) Out of the 5 win teams, I suspect we have the toughest schedule so for tiebreaking today...I think 11 teams are higher draft picks. Fast forward 2 weeks(I don't have the time to look at all the upcoming head to head matchups)... 2 win team: Panthers will be below us guaranteed. 3 win teams: I'm guessing the Broncos and Bengals will each lose at least 1 of 2. So both remain below us. The Bengals have a tough schedule, so they may win the tiebreak over us if they somehow win both games but I'm guessing they won't. 4 win teams: I'm guessing all 3 will lose at least 1. Buffalo is on a bit of a roll but they do have the Pats and Jets up. At 5 wins, I bet we still have the tougher schedule as Baltimore and Pittsburgh are still to come. 5 win teams: 5 other teams here. Let's say 4 of them win at least 1 game and the other ends up with a weaker schedule(tiebreaker with us). That'd put us at 8th. Some 5 win team may stink up the joint and affect my range and some 4 win team may go on a tear the next two games and affect my range... I figure it roughly evens out and we end up around 7th or 8th assuming we go 0-2 to the end. Just a crazy swag... Last edited by dogpaddle; 12-22-2010 at 09:31 PM. |

This is what happens when you draft for shit for over a decade and lack a youthful core and your team is primarily made of stopgaps. So long as Heckert keeps drafting this way, we might see the end of all these older, more frequently injured players sucking up roster spots. I always thought it was inept trainers, but having a load of older players has probably done more damage to us than anything else. We just need more talent, younger talent that wasn't on someone else's practice squad because of health issues, and we'll get over this hump.

If we're in a good position to get some quality picks. I hope Heckert can have another good draft on his hands. We need to keep bringing in quality young players to build a solid core and compliment that core with a veteran presence. Right now it's like we have the opposite. A veteran core complimented with a youth presence and that's not really working for us. I think and truly believe this team is FINALLY moving in the right direction but I'm not getting my hopes up just yet.

Just curious EXACTLY where Randy Lerner and some of these other owners always drafting this high feel like they need to strike against their customer bases. I'd really appreciate hearing the specifics.

Six or seven more years of good drafts and 3-4 more coaching changes we might crack the playoffs.

Strike or no strike, well actually it will be a lockout not a strike. Anyways, there will still be a draft. Some good wins this passt week for some 4 win teams, our draft spot is looking a little better. St. Louis Rams sure did draft a good QB. Does anyone put Luck in that catagory?

I'm anxious to see how the CBA/lockout has on signing FAs and hiring and firing of coaches. It would be pretty hard for a new coach trying to put a new system in if there is a lockout where you have no OTAs or minicamps and a very short preseason/summercamp. It might make some owners think twice about changing unless they know more then they are letting on about a lockout and how long it would be to reach a settlement. got to believe they wouldn't want to lose the revenue from the TV contracts. |

Well, maybe the owners won't be in a great hurry to settle on a CBA they don't want to live with. also would indicate to me that some teams might be very reluctant to pay two coaches while there was a lockout. Can't see many FAs being signed either, with big signing bonuses if they don't anticipate a settlement before the season starts.
