Default Joe Haden

Great to see Haden laying the hammer down! This was such a great pic he and Ward are going to give us a lockdown secondary if we can get another corner/safety.

HADEN!

The highlights of the game that I saw were not kind to the Browns and it obviously didn't tell the whole story. Good to hear that Haden is playing strongly though and I hope this trend will continue. You're right on with Ward/Haden being the future of our secondary. I hope we address other things in this off season but I think we need to bring in another corner or safety to bring depth and potentially be another starter for us to replace Brown/Elam.

The message is clear, we want to score more than 13.6 PPG this year.

Nice to see Boldin not catch 3 TD's yesterday and the CB covering get an INT. What a difference a good CB makes, I don't what happened to Wright this year but if he doesn't pull his head out of his ass he will have trouble making the $$ he wants for the next couple of years. Good thing those naysayers calling Haden a bust in training camp don't make personnel decisions based on some bullshit Mike Lombardi says to bash his old team the Browns. Wright may have to sign a "prove it" contract for one year to prove he can still be a serviceable CB in this league to get the pay day he wants.

I agree with you in that we need to bring in another CB this next off season. While I wouldn't be opposed to taking another CB high I just don't foresee that happening.

Here is a list of FA CB's next year:
Champ Bailey, DEN
Johnathan Joseph, CIN
Eric Wright, CLE
Richard Marshall, CAR
Carlos Rogers, WAS
Tramon Williams, GB
Antonio Cromartie, NYJ
Michael Adams, ARI
Brian Williams, ATL
Fabian Washington, BAL
Chris Carr, BAL
Drayton Florence, BUF
Corey Graham, CHI
Brandon McDonald, CLE
Chris Houston, DET
Will Blackmon, GB
Fred Bennett, HOU
Brandon Carr, KC
Lito Sheppard, MIN
Usama Young, NO
Stanford Routt, OAK
Ellis Hobbs, PHI
Ike Taylor, PIT
William Gay, PIT
Karl Paymah, SF
Josh Wilson, SEA
Kelly Jennings, SEA
Justin King, STL
Ronde Barber, TB
Elbert Mack, TB
Tye Hill, TEN

I personally would try and throw money Joseph's way from Cincy because they are probably not going to pay him.

Now at safety depth you could draft a guy or sign a FA.

Here is a list of possible FA Safety's:
Antoine Bethea, IND
Quintin Mikell, PHI
Tanard Jackson, TB
OJ Atogwe, STL
Bernard Pollard, HOU
Darren Sharper, NO
Matt Ware, ARI
Coy Wire, ATL
Dawan Landry, BAL
Tom Zbikowski, BAL
George Wilson, BUF
Josh Bullocks, CHI
Danieal Manning, CHI
Chinedum Ndukwe, CIN
Roy Williams, CIN
Abram Elam, CLE
Gerald Sensabaugh, DAL
Alan Ball, DAL
Daniel Bullocks, DET
Atari Bigby, GB
Sean Considine, JAC
Gerald Alexander, JAC
Jarrad Page, KC
Deon Grant, NYG
Michael Johnson, NYG
Aaron Rouse, NYG
Brodney Pool, NYJ
Hiram Eugene, OAK
Eric Weddle, SD
Paul Oliver, SD
Dashawn Goldson, SF
Sabby Piscatelli, TB

My personal preference would be to go after Bethea.

I know these lists are a little out dated because of the team it says these players are on but it's a good indication of some of the guys who could be available.

We should have drafted the Pickle instead.

Those are some pretty big lists overall with numerous tempting names. If we brought in someone to push Wright... (even keeping Brown and bringing it someone to be #4 w/ Francis) I just want some depth in the secondary. When we got bit by the injury bug, It hurt our front 7 a bit more, but the secondary has definitely felt the sting as well. It's clear we need more depth if we want to win.

You got to think back to April and laugh about the stories concerning Haden, his lack of speed and how the pickle was NFL ready and that no one in their right minds would take McCoy over Clausen.

Joseph will NEVER get out of Cinci..the guy is lights out and they will pay handsomely..even as cheap as they are.. there are some solid players on that list though..

Here are the list of players that will be FA with the Bengals in 2011:

Cedric Benson
Brian Leonard
Terrell Owens
Matt Jones
Daniel Coats
Reggie Kelly
Dennis Roland
Nate Livings
Evan Mathis
Kyle Cook
Jonathan Fanene
Rashad Jeanty
Brandon Johnson
Dhani Jones
Roy Williams
Chinedum Ndukwe

The Bengals have 17 players to resign/roster spots to fill including Joseph. So I would not ever say he doesn't have a chance of getting out of Cincinnati.

I think the Bengals may be looking at/for:

A new Head Coach
A new QB (always thought Palmer was over-rated, now even media is saying it)
A few new WR's

In other words, this looks like a tear down/rebuild to me...and that means a 27 year old CB may well NOT be in the plans. Just saying I think he can be had for the right price.

I think most teams have a lot of FA due mostly to labor uncertainty, nobody is resigning their own until they get a new CBA. In our own secondary we have Wright, Elam, Piscatelli as FA's and I don't the contract status of Adams and Francies.

Once the new CBA gets signed this might be the most active off season in many. many years.

I would have pulled out my hair if I had any when the Browns passed on him at 7. How is a talent like the Pickle still available at 7? Then we take Mr Noodle in the 3rd when we could have had Kafka? Did I ever tell you how much I liked Aaron Rodgers?
