Actually my perfect choice isn't technically available yet and would probably make PGL retch....but if Tennesse fires Fisher, he'd be my first choice as HC then let Holmgren pick a hand picked OC.
Fisher most likely wouldn't be an option here because he would want more control then
this FO would give. He also is a too much of a "my way only" type coach that stresses defense. He's a run first offensive guy which isn't a good fit for Holmgren.

Also, Holmgren has already said many times that he isn't going to pick the assistants or interfere with the next HC. He will hire a coach to coach and not someone that will be micromanaged. That said, I would imagine that most things like assistants and scheme would be worked out in the interviews.

The man is determined to get it right.

All I know is I have a nightmare of a staff of Mohrninweg as HC, Wade Phillips as DC, and Josh McDaniels as OC......

I know I'm late here... but two cents worth: I'd argue that Hillis is a lot more prototypical for the WCO than others. Typically (read 'non-Shanahan') WCO's rely on an effective running and pass-catching fullback. Earl Cooper, Pete Johnson, Tom Rathman, Chuck Muncie... They are typically accented by a smaller, quicker Jet back - Wendell Tyler, James Brooks, Archie Griffen/James Brooks, Ricky Waters. Only Roger Craig stands out as a true inside/outside threat.

The only trouble I'd see in Cleveland is that they have two of them. Both Vickers and Hillis are the kind of player that most WCO coordinators covet. The trouble is, they don't have the Jet back on the roster. But boy, there are a bunch of them in the free agent pool in 2011: DeAngelo Williams, Ahmad Bradshaw, Leon Washington, Jerious Norwood, Joseph Addai, Mike Hart... Any one of them could flourish in a traditional west coast system.

If I was a betting man, I'd say, they let Vickers go (He'll likely be a UFA regardless of how the collective bargaining agreement goes), and keep the younger Hillis, whose contract runs through 2011. Although, he may be looking for some change in compensation before he enters the final year of that deal. And that will complicate matters.

Add to that Vickers' current situation, which includes the Browns sitting on him for a full season because of the relaxed RFA rules in the uncapped year, and I can't imagine that LV will be interested in giving anything resembling a hometown discount, if he opens negotiations with the Browns at all.

Worst case scenario, Vickers leaves without even asking the Browns for a new deal, and Hillis holds out for tailback money. Then they're stuck.

Agreed pay Hillis what he is worth. If we can get someone to come in as a decent backup along with a healthy Hardesty, Hillis is a monster. If not and we just run Hillis into the ground than his production is going to drop towards the end of the year. Keep him happy and keep him healthy.
