Default Combine Chatter: Friday

The quarterbacks are getting big: Bradford (now seemingly the favorite over Suh to go #1 overall) weighed in at 236 and has obviously muscled up, something teams wanted him to do. He's throwing 50 balls a day and concerns about his shoulder seem to be fading fast. The Rams say they'll go to his pro day AND do a personal workout.

The Rams swear they have the DTs even, as many do... which also contributed to the buzz around Indy that Bradford is the guy to put atop your mock.

Clausen probably moved up just by being himself... at 6'2.5" and 225. Some naysayers swore he'd be 6'1" and 215. If he manages to be both big AND not an asshole for four days, he's probably locked into the Top Five.

Most likely fourth but no lower than seventh (!).

Certainly doesn't hurt. Don Banks has him falling out of the top 10, in fact.

The NFL Draft guru's must be looking at my posts and are becoming convinced that the Rams will go QB with #1

I still say that Clausen has the edge over Bradford right now, because of the injury, and the better skillset, but Bradford is right behind him.

We'll see. But right now, the Rams aren't even talking about Clausen. Just Bradford.

Everything is smoke and mirrors when teams talk in the off-season, prior to the draft.

Take everything that any member or any organization says or implies publicly with a grain of salt.

ND report:
  • ND's Sam Young at the combine measured 6-8, 316 with arm length of 34 1/2. Eric Olsen was 6-4, 306 & 32 1/2.
  • WR Golden Tate was a little shorter than advertised 5-10 1/4 and 194 pounds. His big day is Sunday. when he runs the 40-yard dash
  • Irish QB Jimmy Clausen at th combinecame in at 6-2 5/8 and 222 lbs. That's taller than both Mark Sanchez and Matthew Stafford last year....

And thank God we have more to talk about than the nuances of Holmgren's body language.

If I were doing a mock, I'd put Bradford one and Clausen four. Things change... but today, that's what I'd do.

You figure Suh and McCoy have to go 2/3 then, although there's talk about TB liking Berry AND Dez.

It's assumed that the Chiefs will go OL, but would they really pass on Berry?

Seattle? I can't imagine they'd pass on Berry if he's there. But it could happen if they love Haden or Dez. They need all three of those, right? WR, CB, and S?

Bingo bango bongo.....

There's a reason why it's called the silly season.

Tampa Bay is the wild card.

They're reported to like JPP over Berry, and maybe even Dez over Berry. They could go JPP, Berry, or Bryant.

Personally, I want them to take JPP, and let Berry slide to #7. If they don't take Berry, there's an 80% chance he falls to Cleveland, IMO.

That's right. I forgot about the fast rise of JPP. Every year, one pass rusher rises.
