| What kind of question is that?! Hell if I know, I just don't like Jauron so I'm using my limited information about his time in Buffalo to say he's a bad person. You and your...valid opinions...

Web, you were referencing Ryan's results as our d-coordinator when talking about "top 10". If you "feel" that Ryan isn't the right guy, that's fine. However, looking at this team and the personnel and lamenting the fact that we're not top 10 material is nonsensical. That was my only point. I'm not overly pro Ryan. I like him and I like the notion of an aggressive defense as that's what's worked for the two giants in our division. I won't lose sleep if we go another direction. |

Jauron's struggles as head coach seem like mainly a result of being inept on the offensive side and maybe lacking the charisma to be a head coach. Obviously he'd be here to coach the defense. I don't think he's such a bad candidate, given his experience and the fact that we need someone who can run his whole entire defensive system with virtually zero help - we know neither Holmgren nor Sherbert are defensive guys. |

My main thing with Ryan is that the only real improvements we saw where in the upgrades we made of on-field personnel. There were the same tendencies that piss me off, such as over-blitzing at the sacrifice of pass defense to the point that we're getting burned 3,4,5 times a day for big passes. I mean I know, you gotta rush the passer but there's gotta be some strategy outside of sending EVERYONE once and a while. Ryan is a colorflul personality. He's not as much of a glory seeker as his brother but of course if he ever became a head coach we would find the truth to that. If he's our coach or not next year, I expect our D will be better because I expect us to bring in some players that will help to continue the progression of the defense.

1) Jauron became the defensive coordinator for the expansion Jacksonville Jaguars in 1995 at the invitation of then-Jaguars head coach Tom Coughlin, whom he coached with at Green Bay. The Jaguars made the playoffs in three of Jauron's four seasons with the team, including an appearance in the 1996 AFC Championship Game. 2) Jauron, however, led the greatest turnaround in team history during his third season. In their 13-3 2001 campaign, Chicago finished 8-0 in games decided by seven points or less, including back-to-back overtime victories. Jauron was named the 2001 AP Coach of the Year That's 2 different playoff teams he's been affiliated with as a DC and a HC. Maybe he wouldn't make such a bad coordinator afterall.

Well Schefter is reporting that Ryan will be named the new DC of the Dallas Cowboy's today. I think this will be The Dude's big chance to make his case to take the step to head coach. If he can do some big things with Dallas' D which has some real talented players, I think it will help him shake the mediocre aura that he has (at least with me) and establish that he can be a good coach at this level rather than get by on the Ryan name. Dallas is a team which has been overrated and inconsistent. I don't know if Ryan is the coach to bring that kind of consistency to Dallas' D. I get the vibe he's just a better fit there, than here. Is Dick Jauron the answer for us? I don't know him as a coach all that well... I would like the coach to be someone that can bring some credibility to our D. I don't see Jauron as that guy, then again, I don't know if a coach lends THAT much credibility to a D.
