I have MAJOR reservations on Quinn from North Carolina! He hasn't played in a year, reports say he is a little one dimensional - limited pass moves and not so good vs the run, a little bit light for DE in the NFL, and oh yea - WTF is this about a brain tumor?!!! I'm not a rah, rah - gotta have electric playmakers everywhere on offense but our WR's are abysmal. We have to get one starter at least from FA and one in the 1st rd either Green or Julio Jones. For those who say Jones is BE II then they haven't watched him destroy coverage and make the same great plays I've seen plus he is a big target. People need to see more tape of this guy to have a better appreciation of his skill set. |

I think this can be said of you and Robert Quinn. ![]() Has shown the agility to move around and isn’t just a straight forward pass rusher. Doesn’t look stiff in the hips and is flexible in the torso. Plays with a lot of effort, so pursuit isn’t a question. Has the kind of quickness to break to the outside to beat offensive tackles to the inside. Run defense: Gets off blocks well, which helps him against the run. Outstanding short area quickness that helps him fire through to the tackle. However, Quinn needs to get stronger to better handle the run. Is better working the edge instead of standing his ground and driving his legs. As mentioned, he has the lateral movement to get outside and make plays. Strength: Possesses decent strength. Doesn’t have tight skin, but consistently jolts blockers with his first hand move. Sheds blocks especially well with an arm swipe. Still developing in this area and has the frame to get much stronger. hmmmmmm ~ sounds good to me.....But I've seen him play. Looks 1000% better on film! But damnit....dude doesn't have tight skin...I guess he is out! Last edited by Solon16; 01-21-2011 at 07:58 AM. |

| OK, he played well as a sophomore but then he was forced to take a year off by NCAA suspension. Is he still in shape? Did he develop some more pass moves during his year off? Did he get better vs the run during his year off? Did his BRAIN TUMOR advance even more during his year off? Maybe you can understand my major reservations for drafting him with the #6 overall selection for a team that has so many needs, he has many warning signs that are ringing "danger", "danger" to me and dare I say bust. He scares me too much to want him in the 1st rd with all the holes on this team.

Jax , I understand. I have never heard of the tumor thing. If we switch to a 4-3 defense our Number 1 Need is 4-3 DE... if bowers is gone, Quinn is the answer IMO. The interviews and 100's of workouts he'll have to perform will dictate his viability. We have the former director of the secret service doing background checks. I highly doubt we'll miss anything from that standpoint. Dude is a stud, we have NOBODY to rush the passer in a 4-3. we have the DT's...but nobody worth a crap as a 4-3 DE...which, to me, is essence of that defense. P.S. He played excellent as a sophomore...well is a drastic understatement |

At number six, drafting an edge defender, he better be a farging sure thing. Otherwise, we look elsewhere. NOTHING in Quinn's resume whispers, let alone screams, "sure thing". Someone's going to have to really sell me on Wimbley II. |

It's a shame that he won't be able to show his wears at any of the bowl games. I would think it would be very important to see him work against live offensive linemen in practice. I thought he was coming off his Jr. year and missed his senior year. Might be hard taking a chance on a guy at #6 that only played full time one year. I might want to trade down (if I could) and go after someone like Watts or Heywood and have another pick in the top 60. Then again, there isn't usually the option to trade out of #6 just because you want to. IMO, Watts and Heywood are both high motor guys who could be beasts at the next level. I understand Heywood turned down the offer to play in the Senior Bowl. He has some concerns about some nagging injuries and wants to get close to 100% for the combine. He doesn't want to go the the Senior Bowl injured and look bad. |

| I think Quinn's a major talent. I question whether he's a three-down 4-3 DE, though. I think our top three might look like: Green, Fairley, Bowers. I think at best one of them is there. And toss in Julio Jones, but it might be just a little high for him. Maybe he rises. |

All of the top d-linemen in this class come with some risk; there isn't a Suh in the bunch. But that doesn't mean we should pass on all of them. Quinn's got an elite 1st step and while he needs to expand his pass rush repertoire, he isn't at all a one trick pony. If character/medical weren't question marks, I'd definitely take him over DaQuan Bowers. Unfortunately, both guys come with some concerns, so things are a bit more complicated. |
