| Oh I agree. I just always find it interesting that those folks who were SO SURE Dabs was such a HUGE problem, always shy away from making that guarantee.

Yeah, so maybe the "eat me" thing was a bit forward. My bad. I'm just frustrated with all the "it's black!" "no, it's white!" going on... It is possible to think that D bs was in over his head without wanting wholesale regime change. At least, that's my take on it. I think Mangini got a bit of a raw deal, but part of that onus is on him (keeping Dabs). If I were him, and Mike Holmgren just burst into the war room & put his foot-down and said "Shut up, you two, were drafting McCoy" (the most successful WCOish QB in the NCAA), I'd have immediately picked up the phone and began looking for an OC who can run the WCO (seeing as that is kind of Big Show's thing).I dont think that switching D's will help our W-Ls (but I hope I'm wrong). But statistically (keep in mind percentages are part of statistics) we'll have a better O than last year. Even if it doesn't put up the raw production. That's where I'm coming from. |

I took absolutely no offense in that eat me. I understood where you were coming from. As I said to Riffer, I actually expect the offense to be better also. Statiscally and in look. I think MCCoy will get more comfortable in his second year, and especially being "THE GUY" from day 1, even Mangini said he was much mroe comfortable in the starter role compared to a back up role. I think we'll likely improve some of the offensive talent through the draft and free agency. And I don't have a problem with the idea that the next coordinator may fit Colt's skill set better than Dabs did. And I 100% agree with you that if Mangini had changed OCs last summer it might have helped in keeping him here. and that this wholesale regime change was possibly not the best course of action. Couple that with the Bernie article and you can understand why some of us feel that things have the potential to go in a very bad direction. My one hope in all this is NOT Holmgren, it's Heckert. I believe Heckert is a good GM, I believe he drafts well. I belive he did have a large say in hiring Shurmur which makes me feel a little better than that. Finally though, Unlike Holmgren, I believe Heckert is looking to make a career here in Cleveland in making the Browns a winner. Holmgren to me more strikes me a guy who took this job because he just wasn't ready to retire yet, and he's not here for the long haul.

If you hire the right one you will. Problem is, we don't even know who that's going to be. We might get a better OC, we might get a dud, Shurmur might be ok. If we get a competent OC that is smart enough to make simple gametime adjustments, then yes, we're going to be better and that's before we upgrade any spot on the offense.
