Going Browns related, I'd say Touchdown Tommy Vardell. I still think he was a good player, but our offensive line was pretty horrific at the time and he just never seemed to get going. Per Ohio State, I thought AJ Hawk would be an immediate stud. He's solid, just not dominant like I figured. Both Mike Huff and Mike Williams (one who went to Detroit and now is in Seattle) come to mind as major disappointments from what I thought they would be. Can't think of others at the moment.

I wanted Charlie Frye in the 2nd round right before Green Bay picked, and I wanted Bobby Carpenter in the first after a trade down a few years back. I also wanted Antrel Rolle or Derrick Johnson with pick #3 if Ronnie Brown didn't fall. Rolle wouldn't have fared any better than Braylon here. Last year I had Jimmy Clausen as a Top 10 pick. |

I always thought that David Veikune was a horrible pick.... ... Oh wait, he was. (ZING!) I always wished that Brady Quinn was gonna be good. But after the week 2 Denver game in '09, I gave up all hope. He looked so horrible in that game. I had real doubts about TJ Ward, but granted, that's before I saw gameplay footage of him. I read all about his knee injuries and was nearly convinced he was damaged goods, just like Hardesty. Actually, Hardesty might still be damaged goods. I don't really expect anything out of Hardesty, to be honest. I just assume he'll get injured again. As for non-browns players.... I totally thought that Teddy Gin Jr. was gonna be a stud.

Worst? But there are so many... I was pretty forceful about thinking the Browns should draft Ricky Williams in '99 not that that would've been all bad. But my reasoning was fueled by the fact that I thought the steal of the draft was going to be QB Shaun King that they could nab in round 2. Outside of that... I believe I dismissed BJ Raji as "Babatunde Oshinowo minus 40 IQ points," or something like that. -jj Last edited by jason j; 01-22-2011 at 09:28 PM. |

manny lawson, veikune, larry english, and gholston are my four failures of the apocalypse. i thought that each would be a solid 3-4 olb, and each of them is terrible. i was also in camp ryan leaf when i was 17, though that was mostly because i was already sick of the peyton manning hype.
