Shep...You seem to like Rice.. Simms-Walker is as good and is not coming off of a hip surgury. So I actually like him better than RIce. He is not just a better than what we have guy..it's a GOOD fit and a guy who can make plays. I'm not saying Simms-Walker is GREAT..any more than I would say Rice is great..they both very good..but not great but can both make plays and would both be great additions to our roster.

There are many free agent options to get guys who are better at making plays than what we have currently.. If you cannot get EXACTLY what you want.. we still need to get better than what we have whether you like them long term or not.

I agree we still need to bring in a draft pick.. the problem is WHAT PICK? .. I don't think Green is there when we pick #1 ..and I agree with ALO and don't see us taking Julio #6 overall .. He won't make it to our 2nd pick. I think free agency is the best way to go to get the biggest impact... if there is one. If there is no free agency.. we are pretty well screwed again at WR for next season unless we trade up to get Green.

I don't think "we're screwed" is an option at WR for McCoy and the WCO. It won't happen. There are things lower on the list that might not get done... but WR is such a gaping hole it can't be sloughed off.

Rice has had a Pro Bowl season; Sims-Walker had 569 yards last year. I don't see how the latter gets into the former's category. They weren't when they were drafted, either. Rice has shown #1 WR ability. He was Favre's go-to guy.

I'm with Y on this one: I don't wanna overpay and commit to someone like Breaston or Sims-Walker like they're #1s and the guys who really are, like Jackson and Rice, might not be interested in Cleveland based on where we've been offensively.

I see SOME chance for Rice because he's been in Holmgren's offense and probably knows a thing or two about the Walrus, given Chilly and Favre. He might have some respect. And The Vikings are a team less settled at QB than the Browns.

Seems to me that the front 7 guys from 4-3 defenses would be more willing to come to Cleveland and play for Jauron, like a DE and a couple 'backers.

I think it's 50/50 on A.J. and it's all about the Bengals. I like Julio a lot... but I have no idea how Heckert/Holmgren/Shurmur feel about him. A few draftnicks have said he's tailor made for the WCO.

At some point Brown's fans need to recognize that building a team the Washington Redskins way is the way. You build a team through the draft and if you want a #1 WR then you draft one. Not saying he has to be the #6 pick because I see a lot of #1 WRs in the NFL that weren't high first round picks, but if your guy is there, you take him.

Guys like Breaston and Simms-Walker were never #1s. Some benefit greatly from having #1s opposite them but can never step into that role. A #1 draws the heavy coverage and I think both the above mentioned would shrink in those circumstances.

Guys like Green and Jones were #1s and were the center of attention every week in college. But don't forget that guys like Titus Young and Hankerson were their teams #1s also. This is where great scouting and a good GM earn their money. Can you find a Mike Wallace or do you just go for the gold with Green.

Bottom line is you build your team through the draft. That's where your core players have to come from. You find a slot receiver or a compliment receiver in FA. You find some depth in FA when you need a stopgap because you don't have enough draft picks to fill all your needs. But to get young and have players on the roster that you are developing into NFL starters year in and year out you have to be a team that drafts well.

We are where we are as a team because we drafted like shit.
