What I am trying to say is that I feel they will need to see something special for them to revert from their comfort zone. They may need assurances that Green or any other WR can pass their character, ego, diva, entitlement tests. Not saying that Green or Jones has a diva personna, but they must make sure that this #6 pick is a impact player that will be a core player on this team for years to come.
No more Edwards or Winslows. |
I hear ya about Winslow and Edwards. That said, DeSean Jackson has a cocky swagger that I'd want here. Webster Slaughter had it and he was fun to watch.
When Edwards was out fighting in night clubs and Winslow was playing stunt man on the motorcycle - they weren't putting football first. I think it's important for whoever that does the drafting that he can see the red flags and research thoroughly enough to find the guys he perceives will continue to put football first. Braylon disappointed us big time after 2007; and Winslow put himself in the position where he couldn't play football for 2 of the first 3 years in Cleveland on a huge salary. Following that, he had so much wear and tear from his dumb incident that he could never practice; and he stunk at setting the edge for the running game. I'm REALLY glad the league is setting salary limits on the first round draft picks. It might actually keep some incentive to perform at the level that got them to round 1.
