Digging on Alo's fave site, Draft Insider. They really like Kareem Jackson, too. Have him in the 2nd round: "Terrific young cornerback prospect with a high upside. Possesses size and plays with great strength. Must brush up his game but a very good future cornerback." |

OK, so you're willing to spend 38 on a guy who "must brush up his game" over a guy who compares favorably to Darelle Revis at 7, in lieu of (presumably) Dez Bryant? I'm sorry, but I'll take Haden/Benn over Bryant/this dude in a cocaine heartbeat. |

| Exactly. I was merely throwing Benn out there as an example. Bryant blew his shot to separate himself enough from the pack to merit being picked at 7 IMO. And unless we luck out/trade up for Bradford (which ain't happening), I'd like to ask shep who he'd take at seven. Is it still Bryant??? |

Right now, today... no. But I HATE taking a corner at #7 because you just can't get that much shajammie out of a corner. No way. And Kareem Jackson is a total stud, if you've watched 'Bama. He gets love from every draftnick I read and he could slip into round one. He is NOT "this guy." He's a terrific corner prospect. We'd be really strong there with Wright, Jackson, and McDonald. I'd sorta-kinda like to trade out of 7 if we can't get to Berry or Bradford and we don't want Bryant, who I'm cooling on a little. Could trade down, take Kyle Wilson or Earl Thomas. With a couple 2s and a couple 3s, it turns into a crazy ass draft. |

It's looking like if we don't go Haden, I don't know what the f is going to happen. But I want a blue-chipper, dammit. I don't want to trade down. |

Shep, I really think you are devaluing the role a top flight corner can play. There is also a difference from a real blue chip like Haden to someone who just has first round talent. Haden could be our Revis and immediately Wright would become an even better corner than what he is, which is pretty good. It makes a huge difference in scheming and getting after the QB, especially considering we have Big Gay Ben to deal with buying time. A guy like Haden could be the difference from beating Pittspuke or not. |

And a CB affects wins as much as any other position does, besides QB. If you feel differently, show me data. A great player is a great player is a great player. And since we BOTH agree that the NFL is a passer's league, wouldn't you want a Revis-style corner on your team to help shut that down? I would, and do. Well said, Riff. I was going to make the comparison between how the Jets feel about Revis (the former) and Sheppard (the latter). The difference is glaring. Last edited by mz.; 03-01-2010 at 08:34 PM. Reason: mas |

I haven't watched enough of Jackson to say anything with much confidence, but here are my general impressions: - Good stop & start abilityHis 40 will be very important - one thing almost universally noted is that it's hard to hell how fast he is. Also, I'll be looking for a good vertical, both because of what I've seen and due to his arms beings the shortest of any corner at the Combine (Joe Haden's are the longest). |
