| 2010 NFL Mock Draft Wednesday, March 3, 2010 7. Cleveland Browns: Dez Bryant, WR, Oklahoma State I've had Joe Haden going here for a while now. I think Haden's 4.57 at the Combine is being blown out of proportion. I personally don't think it's a big deal. The instant Haden got into his stance, Deion Sanders nearly had a seizure. Deion noted that the stance was terrible, and sure enough, Haden got off to a poor start both times. Haden is probably a 4.4X 40 guy; his form was just terrible. Haden is still the No. 1 corner in this class; there's just too much great tape on him. Having said that, he did look a little stiff in the drills, and with everything that happened in Indianapolis, the Browns may have moved Dez Bryant ahead of Haden on their big board. Cleveland needs offensive playmakers. Brady Quinn struggled last year with his deep accuracy, but it's hard to put all of the blame on him because his top targets were Evan Moore, Mohamed Massaquoi and Mike Furrey. I'm not a huge fan of Dez Bryant, but he's drawing comparisons to Andre Johnson. There have been rumors of character concerns regarding the Oklahoma State wideout, but those could have been manifested by some team hoping to make Bryant slip on Draft Day. Other 2010 NFL Draft Possibilities: 1. Quarterback - Like the Seahawks, the Browns are a candidate to trade up for a quarterback. Moving from No. 7 to No. 3 may be difficult, but Cleveland could definitely go up two spots if the Redskins pass on Sam Bradford. All that would cost the Browns is a third-round pick, and they conveniently have two of those. 2. Joe Haden, CB - Joe Haden is still a strong option for the Browns because he's a very talented corner who would fill a big need. Pick change; previously Joe Haden, CB 38. Cleveland Browns: Kareem Jackson, CB, Alabama Eric Wright is a solid corner, but the Browns have nothing across from him. They can't go another season rotating between Brandon McDonald and Mike Adams. Kareem Jackson ran a 4.41 at the Combine. Pick change; previously Nate Allen, FS 71. Cleveland Browns: Dan LeFevour, QB, Central Michigan As I wrote earlier, the only way the Browns are going to win on a consistent basis is if they find a franchise quarterback. Also, new regimes mean new quarterbacks, so Mike Holmgren will be looking for a guy he likes in this class. 92. Cleveland Browns: Major Wright, FS, Florida More help in the secondary is needed. Brodney Pool is a talented player, but he already has four concussions in his career. The Cleveland Plain Dealer suggested recently that his playing days might be over, and I would agree. If Pool has another concussion in 2010, he may not have many of his mental functions by the time he's in his 50s. Pick change; previous Jason Worilds, DE/OLB 102. Cleveland Browns: Jared Veldheer, OT, Hillsdale Aside from finding a franchise quarterback and building his defense, a priority of Mike Holmgren's will be to upgrade the right side of his offensive front. Pick change; previously Ciron Black, OT WalterFootball.com: 2010 NFL Mock Draft

Here's some info on Major Wright and he is listed as the #9 safety in this draft at Walter: Major Wright, FS, Florida Height: 5-11. Weight: 206. Projected 40 Time: 4.48. Combine 40 Time: 4.49. Benchx225: 14. Vertical: . Projected Round (2010): 3-4. 1/12/10: Major Wright has declared for the 2010 NFL Draft. Wright could be selected early on Day 3, so it's pretty puzzling why he would declare in the same draft with Eric Berry and Earl Thomas. 3/13/09: In his sophomore year, Major Wright broke up six passes and logged four interceptions (one for a touchdown). 8/6/08: As a true freshman, Major Wright started seven games and recorded 67 tackles. He qualified for the Freshman All-American second team.

Here is some info on Jared Veldheer he is listed as the #8 tackle on Walter: Jared Veldheer, Hillsdale Height: 6-8. Weight: 312. Projected 40 Time: 5.25. Combine 40 Time: 5.09. Benchx225: 32. Arm: 33. Projected Round (2010): 2-3. 2/28/10: As expected, Jared Veldheer showcased his athleticism to scouts at the Combine. Veldheer ran a 5.09 in the 40, and it seems like his only flaw is his arm length (33 inches). In a top-heavy, but thin tackle class, Veldheer could go in the second round. 2/26/10: Jared Veldheer is an athletic tackle who should perform well on Saturday. Unfortunately, Thursday wasn't so kind to him. Jared Veldheer weighed in at 6-8, 312, but with 33-inch arms. That arm length is ridiculously short for a man of Veldheer's size. 1/18/10: Jared Veldheer is a giant tackle with athleticism, who started all 46 games of his collegiate career. A Division II AP All-America first-teamer, Veldheer will attend the Combine, so the nation will get their first ever look at him in February.

That mock would make me really happy. We'd get Dez PLUS serious quality at corner and safety. I'm not sure about LeFevour, really, and here's why: If it's as our long-term solution, it seems like a low priority (3rd round) attempt. If it's as a developmental guy, it actually seems a little high. It's in a netherworld as far as QB. But if Holmgren really likes him and can get him in three, that's fine, I guess. I'd rather get Anthony Dixon with that pick. I think. To make this a possibility, Dez needs to kill on March 11. |

Major Wright would be an interesting 3rd round pick. Because he played deep centerfield this year, Wright didn't get as many playmaking opportunities, but he ran an impressive 4.48 40 at the Combine. More importantly, he's a solid tackler and a willing hitter. He's capable of playing both up & down. |

That said, I don't think Veldheer will be available in the 4th. Quote:
He definitely fits Mangini's preference for smart players: he was pre-med at Hillsdale, which just so happens to be Heckert's alma mater. |

Veldheer could play RT, but he'll probably need a redshirt year, maybe two. He fared well at the Texas vs. the Nation practices, but he looked pretty raw in the actual game. During his Combine presser, Heckert said he hadn't yet met with Veldheer, but he'd previously spoken to Veldheer's parents about the draft process. |
