Little blog entry that might interest you Browns fans now that it is becoming more and more apparent that both players may be available at the 6th pick: Click here |

Another HUGE factor.. One of these guys is having wheel surgery. I think both are and will be good players.. but if it's a choice between them. You gotta go Green. He catches everything.. and he's healthy.. Surgeries are never 100% guarenteed and you often have lingering problems even after being deemed 100% by a doctor. You cannot simply say..oh, it's minor surgery.. These 5 other guys had it done and no problems..every injury is different, every persons reaction to surgery is different. For example: Antonio Gates has foot problems every year. He's great...but it effects him every year..when at the beginning of the year he always says he's 100%,... You must go with the the guy who is healthy and catches everything.. It's really not a choice unless you cannot get Green. If Green is gone..then you must consider Julio in the mix for your pick..but only if Green is not there.

Jones is way more than a workout warrior, though. He's got some terrific tape, especially this past year. That war with Peterson made both look like big-time NFL players. Jones' basement is 14 and he's a popular pick for #10, too. He's not much of a reach... but I agree that Green is rated above him. What we've learned about Jones is that he's fast, strong, jumps high... and is really, really tough. And he looked terrific catching the ball. He's a big-time prospect. |

I'll say it again, no thanks on Jones. We've already had one Butterfingers Edwards, don't want another. If we're going to take a wr at 6, I want a Larry Fitzgerald or Andre Johnson, great hands, great route running. I want a go to guy that high.

The WCO is based on receivers turning routine five yard slant routes, wether they are covered or not, into 25 yard gains. Julio Jones may have put on an exceptional show at the combine but AJ Green did the same week in and week out in the SEC. Greens reliable hands and reliable route running will make him a beast in the type of WCO the Browns are going to employ. Very excited about the prospects of Green in the number one role with Robiskie and MoMass rotating at two, Cribbs in the wildcard role and Hillis along with Hardesty catching the ball out of the backfield. If McCoy develops the way he should under the tutelage of Shurmur, Holmgrem et al the Browns may actually have an offense that may scare some teams. That's a young foundation that could develop into an elite unit in a few short years. The chance at being able to set your franchise up like this only comes along once in a blue moon. If available, AJ Green has to be the pick. Last edited by handbanana; 03-08-2011 at 05:17 AM. |

Absolutely, positively agree. The tape don't lie and Green is an elite talent, the best of the past few years, along with Dez Bryant, who brought baggage. He's the rather huge missing piece that suddenly makes you say things like you just did, that the Browns have the talent that could add up to something special in the WCO. I think the Browns are counting on both Robiskie and Massoquoi to be contributors behind someone like A.J. Then Mitchell, Haggerty, and Williams fight it out for the fourth spot. It'd be really nice to find a slot receiver somewhere in that group. I'm not sure they're all safe. There's talk that Shurmur might swoop in and get one of his former Rams guys. Quote:
