Default Kolb On the Market

Andy Reid says the Eagles are "open for business" and listening to offers for Kevin Kolb. He said teams have shown interest and something could happen as soon as teams are allowed to start to do business.

I still think that Kolb, McNabb and Vince Young being available, as maybe Palmer, changes the landscape of the draft as it pertains to QBs.

McNabb has value for a team like Minn, San Fran or even AZ who could fill a need with their first round pick, grab a QB to develop in the second round while McNabb holds down the job for a year. As bad as he was last year part has to be the head butting with the Shanahan's. I still think he has enough left to be a veteran stopgap.

IMO, Kolb is a franchise QB in the waiting and Vince Young , with the right team, could resurface as a top notch QB.

I think I'd take McNabb and Ponder instead of using my first round pick on Newton if I was AZ or Philly. Vince Young for free has to be better then Alex Smith.

Nice to see business isn't completely shut down. But these deals can't be finalized until the lockout is over and a new CBA is in effect. If they play around too long then teams are going to be forced to keep these QBs.

Kolb was a 4 game wonder 2 years ago. Lit it up and looked great. Once teams reviewed the tape of those 4 games.. not so much.. I'm not sure what happened to him. He had the all mini camp and offseason to prepare as the starter.. NOT impressed with his resume of work so far... I still believe he can be a good starter with the right team..but all in all I think he will be just an average QB long term. I think he's likely worth a 2nd rounder.. but I think Philli will be asking for and will get much more..and I don't think he's worth more.

Yah I'm not sure what tells anyone this guy is a franchise QB. I know a lot of our members were hot & heavy on him last off season.

Watch us give up a first and third, I'll laugh .........to keep from crying.

I'm not saying Kolb to Cleveland but there are about 10 teams out there that could use a good QB and despite what some think, what I've seen of him has been a good clean product. He doesn't have a great body of work, but what backup usually does.

People said Schaub was nothing more then a good backup. There were people that said Rogers could never step out of Favre's shadow. Andy Reid traded McNabb so he could give Kolb his chance to be the man. Little did anyone know taht Vick would come on when Kolb got injured and light it up to a point where they couldn't take the job and give it back to Kolb.

Check his stats. He has stepped up just about every time he was given a chance. IMO, he was looking very good when the season started up until he got injured and when he replaced Vick when he got injured. I may like the guy more then most but he is what you want in a WCO QB. I'd love if McCoy could develop into something close to Kolb. Knowing Reid and what he thinks about Kolb, he isn't giving him away. He should get a 1st for him. The guy can come in and win games for a team right now. With a guy like Newton there are many ???????? and a few years of growing pains.

But, some teams , like the Browns before Holmgren think they can win in the NFL without a QB..............................Good Luck with that.

A little reality check... McCoy was 2-6 with 6 td's and 9 int's...Kolb is definetly on the radar

I wouldn't laugh too hard because McCoy hasn't proven anything more then he is just a good, solid prospect. Some flashes of protential, pretty solid games and a few pretty ugly games. I like McCoy but don't feel so good about the situation that you think we got our savior.

I'm willing to roll the dice with McCoy but I don't think anybody knows if he's the franchise guy or not.

Don't think I ever insinuated McCoy is our savior or our franchise QB. But I am about as sure of McCoy as I am of Kolb. Not willing to roll the dice and forfeit some solid young players in the draft for Kolb.

We don't lose much by giving McCoy a full year to see what he has.. If he's not the guy we are really no worse off, as we have so many holes to fill... It just means we would KNOW more about the QB spot the following year and where we need to go with it.. We decide he's the guy and stay with him.. or go find a starter..in the meantime hopeully filling in some other holes along the way with this draft and F/A class. I know it's frustrating..but you can't bring in the replacement until you know he needs replaced.

Trading for Kolb would feel like a really poor allocation of resources.

We don't have a defensive line or any wide receivers. For all the relevant McCoy stats - hey, you need someone to catch the ball. And it's not like he had OK WRs. He had WRs that could've lost their job to people on this forum if they suited up and played against them. People that belong in the CFL, not the NFL.

It doesn't make sense to trade for Kolb when you already have a QB that's showed some flashes of potential. It would also just be setting yourself up to fail given that he'd go in there with nearly all of our holes still pouring gas.
