So if they manage to trade him, his deal jumps up to 4 mill? That seems like a strange contract footnote...

Player agents really seem to be taking advantage of the lack of a salary cap. They must be loving their jobs right about now.

I'll say that str8 up Carr is better than Quinn...Carr got timcouchitis in Houston and they NEVER gave him an Oline or much talent....He has lost the deer in headlights effect of being the world leader in being sacked. I'd welcome the guy!

Gonna have to agree with you Solon. Carr at least looks the part of a QB, throws like one, but a person can only take so many sacks before it gets into your head.

I think there's that point with any rookie NFL qb.
If you drop a young, unprepaired guy in there with no weapons or protection, he gets beat to hell for so many seasons, then he loses all confidence and hears footsteps the rest of his career.
I think you can attribute footsteps to the failure of guys like Carr, Harrington and Couch. If they would have had a wr, te, oline and running game while falling into an established offense (no rookie oc's) things could have turned out very differently.

I'm sorry but it's a little ridiculous to make an arugment like Carr got the raw deal in his early years, and all of a sudden he's going to be a whole different QB in Cleveland yet, chastise Brady Quinn for the exact same reason and cite that he just doesn't have it. Where do you draw a line?

I've got no reason to believe that David Carr will be any kind of improvement over Brady Quinn. That's where I stand on the issue. The somewhat-journeyman experience he's acquired over his career isn't going to change anything. I doubt he would be able to make any kind of impact for us with what we've got. We've got a better back than he's had the luxury of having in Houston (who have they had anyway, before Slaton's one year of good running?) and that's about it.

Carr has footsteps in his head.
The question is does BQ as well?

If Quinn has the footsteps, then he's done. I've yet to see a qb get rid of footsteps once they've got them.
Carr shows it. He gets wildly inaccurate and loses his senses once he starts feeling pressure.
Harrington showed flashes of brilliance but as soon as the pressure comes it's back to classic "Whoa Joey!" form.
Couch couldn't even settle again, even when he tried out for Greenbay he was throwing the ball away before he could get set to a 3 step drop.

It's all about confidence. Once it's gone it's gone. All of these guys were the best all their lives. They rode high on the waves of victory. They never had to face defeat or controversy. Too many of these young qbs just never learn to deal with it.
