If neither is very good, Berry's the better pick. If Berry is great and Clausen or Bradford is really good... the quarterbacks were smarter picks.
Without Roetlhlisberger, the Steelers would suck, great defense and Polamalu and all. They'd certainly be worse than the Jets, who should have gone 8-8 with a better defense and a better running game. That game they played with Dennis Dixon was FUGLY.
But without Polly, their defense had similar stats and they won at about the same clip. The Colts were fine without Sanders. Losing a safety is NOT losing a quarterback. Hence... value.
You just can't safety your way to a first round bye. |
Talk about covering your bases. If ands and buts.
Joey H, David Carr and Alex Smith - all subject to mishandling and mutliple offenses. I get that.
But Berry is a top 3 pick for me. I don't like Clausen (ND homer here) and the only QB's I like are Bradford and Colt, but not top 10.
If we trade out, move into 12-18, and get one of those with some 2nd and 3rd round love in return, sure. I buy in.
Why? Cuz it's H3.
But I just don't see a Ben or Joe F sitting there.
I like RB better than QB, so I know I give a lot of ground with you there. I just don't like these guys. And yes, shep I say that every year. I admit that.
