Default HECKERT GIVES UP TOO MUCH

He gave up way way to much last year for hardesty...and gave up way too much to move up 6 spots this year...

Two years ago when I said Kokinis/mangy didn't get enough for trading with phily and tampa(6th rounders)and after taking a bus load of Jets (that have now taken the bus out of town)...I took lots of grief! You are the same guys applauding giving up a fking third rounder to move up 6 spots...pfffft. Not impressed with heckert and kinda miffed he gave our third rounder away...yes GAVE it away.

We should have stood pat at 27! Zero poker face! I think he jumped up because he thought Phily would grab Taylor...and he jizzed himself. PT aint that good...don't get me wrong, I like the pick as is...but with paea,M austin ,wilkersen, carimi, costanzo and heywood on the board still....We gave up way way too much again.... 2 years in a row is a trend....Phil Taylor BETTER be GREAT now instead of good! Herkert is pissing me off....he better score today with our 2 second rounders!

You can't really say we gave up too much until you see how he performs. I'm sure knowing that he now has two second rounders this year made that decision easier as well.

If he's great, you never give up too much. Look at What Atlanta gave up for Julio Jones. FOUR picks A #1 an #2 and 2 #4's.. a guy who just had foot surgery 6 weeks ago and has questionable hands.. He better be the next Larry Fitz.. giving up 4 picks.. S

o,,, Since he's never played a down.. We have not given up too much.

Let the crying, whining, and bickering begin.

a third rounder to move up 6 spots is pickpocketed...if he is a Probowler great, then its worth it...Hardesty didn't play a down...I am not bickering, whining or any digs you might throw my way...I've been doing this way too long...just stating facts!

We should have kept of third instead of giving it away...not happy about the TREND!

We got Atlanta's 2nd which is a late one, and "gave away" our early 3rd. Without looking it up, I'm guessing about 10-12 draft spots.

Smart move IMO.

Oh yeah and we got an extra 1st and a 4th. Get a grip, 16. Try and maintain a slight bit of perspective

Default value is the key on trades

GMs cannot become so enamored with a draftees "potential" that they lose sight of value (there is so much guesswork at this point, noone knows if Taylor will be a stud or a bust). Trades are fine, but whrther you move up or down you have to trade for value. Most charts have the value of a 21-27 move in the 120 point range and the value of our 3rd round pick at 240! This is highway robbery IMHO.

Before I comment any further on this can someone list the details of our trade out of 6 into 27 AND the details of our trade up to 21?

IMO, the draft is a crap shoot. Folks base FUTURE POTENTIAL on past performance and that's not always a good indicator. There are too many factors at play. Not the least of which is these kids are playing their asses off in college to impress scouts and GET drafted. Once that's done some only seem to play their asses off again when it's time to renegotiate a contract. Of course there are myriad other factors at play.

Right now I will say I like the pick overall. Not sure if it was a good idea to move up or whatever (just not enough information for me to make that call) BUT IMO we had a mostly aging and injured DL (with the exception of Rubin). We NEEDED to beef up that line and it sounds like we did.

While half the game is scoring more points than the other team, the other half is making sure the other team DOESN'T score.

The question is, is Taylor that much better than Jordan, Wilkerson, Heyward, or any of the other D lineman still left on that board that we could have had if we stayed put.

I am leaning towards agreeing that he gave up too much unless someone can convince me Taylor is THAT much better than the long list of D-lineman that were still available when we would have picked

One of the greatest trades I have ever seen take place was the trade to move down to 27. Giving up a 3rd for a guy people compared to a more athletic, disciplined Shaun Rogers is a pittance.
