Love Lance Moore, he is the definition of slot receiver and a definite upgrade over what we have.
As far as speed is concerned, the answer to that is Carlton Mitchell. Dude has got wheels and major yac. I see him really emerging as a nice surprise this year, he was definitely considered quite the steal coming out of last years draft. He got lost in the wasteland that was the Daboll offense.

He was tweeting about flying this afternoon. Didn't say to where. In for Camp Colt #2 at BW?

Nah, I think that is a complete and total waste of money. We do not need to sign a vet WR. We need to work the current cast into the WCO. Signing a vet WCO WR - even a Jackson or Rice - is not going to get us more wins. It is a luxury maybe, but not a need, IMO.

Badass Safety? Another RT? Some quality DL? Backup C? LB help? Yes.

WR veteran help is WAY down the list of worries on this young offense, especially when H&H have repeatedly stated "we think more about this WR group than people on the outside."

And I believe them. Look the WCO makes WR's, and I think the resident football guru jj already stated "typically WCO WR's don't go on to much success outside the WCO." And that is very true historically. Very true (check his numbers.)

So I posit that everyone I have read here on BH underestimates MoMass and RoBo and Cribbs and Stuckey. Now I admit my favorite Stuckey may be lost, but you're out of your mind to suggest MoMass isn't coming back. Literally out of your mind.

They like the group they have combined with the RB's and OL. There is zero need for Jackson or Rice. None. Now, you tell me in a year that Percy Harvin has a contract up, sure I am listening.

But no we're not paying money for a WR. Colt is either good or he is not good, but the WR's he has are not holding him back. He has a "greg jennings" somewhere in this roster, IMO.

The contrast between "the QB makes the WR" and the obligatory "we need a #1 expensive WR now" approach is laughable, even moreso because these two concepts contradict what the Browns need.

I need ONE WR (Rice / Jackson) and all of a sudden we're playoff bound? N0! The WR is the least of our worries.

What is the need immediately? QB and OC on the same page, converting lots of 1st downs, the defense denying more 1st dwn conversions and the offense converting more 1st downs.

I'm kinda on the fence, honestly. Opinions aside, I do think the Browns will sign a WR in free agency. Just a gut. I just don't know if it's camp competition or something, a-hem, Moore. As in Lance Moore. I do think we lack a classic slot WR and could use one.

Moore's young but would bring a veteran presence we lack if you assume Little, Robiskie, and Massoquoi are the teams meaningful WRs.

Generally, I think the QB makes the WRs and there are more WRs capable doing the job than there are jobs. But when we're talking about young, inexperienced QBs, I think having serious, dependable weapons is a must. I think a problem like a lack of speed/explosion on the outside is magnified for a McCoy or Henne in a way that it isn't for a Brees, Brady, Rodgers, Rivers, or Manning.

That said, it could work out. Those three could flourish in the WCO along with the nice set of TEs, a coupe of whom can split out (Moore and Cameron) when necessary. And maybe Carlton Mitchell becomes that package WR who opens up the field by threatening 25-30 yards downfield.
