The only thing I wouldve done differently is take Marvin Austin instead of Taylor, he seems like a better fit... But now we have a HUGE D-line... Rubin and Taylor in the middle are scary to most teams, they can really weaken the wall while Benard and Sheard Attack

The only reason I am shaky about the 3rd for Taylor? Because I don't know what spooked Heckert. We can all discuss/debate what we know from Internet land. But don't you guys think there is a possibility that the info we have - via Kiper, Mayock, McShay, King, Sobo, Gosselin, PFT, Narwocki, et al - is slightly different than the info the guys on the inside have? That maybe these teams have inside info we are not privy to at all? Maybe the GM's around the league (who will never admit it) are saying "whoa, WTF? Heckert did his homework on PIT/BAL/KC taking the big man." It is possilble Taylor was the guy they had rated at 17-20, and they "knew" someone was taking him before 27. Possible. Very possible. (But admittedly I drink the kool-aid. But since you guys read the aforementioned scribes above, I am just as correct as you are.) |

Shep, now that all is well again in Shepland, can you explain what you don't love about Taylor? I'm truly curious because it took me about 5 minutes to get on board for the simple fact that he was the biggest DT out there and size don't lie. As soon as I read up on him, it made even more sense to me: strengthen the center, force teams to go AROUND the monsters, let LBs and DEs flow to the ball, easier to find quick DEs than MASSIVE DTs, etc. Then when Alo pointed out that Jauron's D's always anchored on a big man (Traylor in CHI, Rogers in DET), it all clicked in solid. Makes a TON of sense. As far as Solon's issue with the "wasted" 3rd round pick, and your issue with moving down for extra picks, the end of tonight answers both criticisms. The FO did everything YOU wanted, and everything THEY wanted, and all it cost us was a 3rd this year, while netting us Little and 3 other picks (4th, 1st and 4th 2012)? It's a fantastic draft, on paper. Now we get a CB, DE and OL for depth and hope for the best. Lots to love, Browns fans! |

Let the draft come to you...thats what the good gm's do. You are talking like this guy is SUH... Its phil taylor. So what if someone takes him before us...roll with it...bpa at #27 and keep #70 Geez... Spooked GM's overvalue and get fleeced. ![]() That said...LOVE Sheard and Little ....GREAT PICKS! I am definately feeling today's picks. I like that we addressed the DL and WR, Greg Little... that was a name I was crossing my fingers for. I liked the video and I like the hunger he shows. I read an interview that he did and he's anxious to get out and play and hungry to prove himself. That's just the kind of player I want on this offense. Ditto for Taylor who is excited to play and anxious to get some sacks even though he's known as a 'run stuffer' he's confident in his own pass-rushing abilities. I like that and a DE was a great area of need. I watched some video on Sheard, I wonder if he could be next year's TJ Ward, so to speak? Just in terms of overall impact to our D. That would be excellent if both Sheard and Taylor were starting and contributing next season.
__________________ BROWNS 2012: Its Weeden's job to lose, it was the second we took him #22 overall. We had a pretty good draft, and I'd like to start seeing some results. Fans already looking to next year and I don't blame them. I think we will have things to be excited about that we lacked last year and we have some real facepalm moments just like last year. It's going to be tough. We aren't Barking Hard for nothing. WOOF WOOF WOOF! ![]() |

Without a defense ahead of that offense, this AFCN will be another uphill struggle. This defense we're building sounds VERY VERY FUN. Young people, gaining on the aging Ravens/Steelers, carrying the crown for AFCN. STOCK rising in the AFCN? 1. Browns 2011- get used to seeing the love again this year. For good reason. We have at least a well deserved break from so many bad years in a row. These are good b2b years coming up. We need to catch our breath as diehard's, understand we're now in forward moving mode, and take a break while allowing experienced decision makers put'in changes in from 2009'ish into 2012! 2011 = 10-6 Vegasdogg posted Feb. 2011 ( ....I think as soon as they hired Shurmur I said "10-6!!")
