Sound promising. It will be interesting to see how it develops. Hope Colt will able to control the offense like a certain Peyton Manning eventually (as long he is going it right)

Don't know where you guys have been but last years offense relied heavily on audibles ...or "check downs" as they liked to call them. That's why dumb as rocks Wallace sucked in it, and it's also why we saw so much promise in Colt under center. He's a gamer, and he got those "check-downs" right more often than any other QB we had on the team ...other than a healthy Delhomme, which turned out to be a rarity.

I think I might have fallen over dead from surprise had the local media ever written a glowing article like this about Mangini before he stepped on the field.

Looking forward to seeing Shurmur continue the progress this year, and to excel.

Every NFL and almost all college teams have check down capabilities, but I am talking more about letting Colt completely change the play at the line as the game dictates. I am talking calling play action into the teeth of a rush blitz rather than following through with the handoff etc.

I would like to see the option of changing from the scripted plays and letting him manage the game as the game dictates. We are setting this team up with mismatches for the offense. Guys like Moore and Cameron are perfect for situations like that, as well as Hardesty and Hillis out of the backfield on backers in space.

I want Colt to have the ability to completely change the designed or called play as he sees fit, depending on how the defense lines up. That is different than a simple check down, blitz check or line shift.

Yah, I get you ...but I also think that's what we wanted from our QBs last year. It was talked about at length in some of the press conferences.

Colt very well may have the ability to make Shurmur look like a great head coach ...but will Shurmur really take the reigns off that much? I'm with you ..I hope so.

This is actually one of the things that keeps a team like SD out of the SB despite other problems as well...But in Norv Turners offense, there are no audibles...They run what is called...This is why I always put an asterisk behind Troy Aikmans name...Because under turner...He never had the option to change plays. Thats not to say he wasnt any good...But you wonder how much better could they have been...I.E. Rivers/Aikman
