It could be a case of double duty. Heckert has a guy groomed for the job.
I get that a respected vet like Fujita is "unhappy" or whatever it is he said, but the position is to "develop talent" not make 30+ yr olds happy. I could be wrong, but our strong point - and this is arguable - has not been talent development.
When a guy like Eric Wright, who we "stole" in the 2nd round (:cough 1st rnd talent :cough) totally shits his pants in 2010, I am not really sure the guy holding this title was all that and a bag of chips.
Granted this is a small community where the same guys seem to get hired by other teams, so of course someone (Bills) is snatching him up. Does that mean the move was wrong because Wright and Fujita disagree?
I don't know jack about Butler other than he has been here with the Browns. Player Development has not been a Browns strength since - oh I don't know - it never fucking mattered before? Who is the PD guy, what does he do, and how am I pissed we let go a guy who seemingly hasn't made much impact?
Players. Coaches. GM's.
Last time I checked you pay people on performance. Someone please tell me why keeping Jerry Butler was necessary to keeping up with PIT and BAL.
Nice guy it seems. Don't have a bad word to say. But WTF was his job? And did he do it well?
