Default How not to waste a first round pick.

With all the fresh QB action going on i hope we all can be objective.

Just because we have a high pick doesn't mean we take a qb with our pick.

I firmly beleive you don't just 'keep' picking until you hit' theory.

Browns can fill some holes this year without wasting high picks on qb's.

Shep-.... use your wonderful energy to find us someone other than a qb!!

It's a QB league and you need a QB so what you do is you take all 11 picks and spend them on QB's because atleast one of them will be Peyton Manning or Drew Brees.

Don't hurt'em, Hammer!

If you don't have a quarterback, it's job #1, regardless of what you've done in the past (or previous administrations, actually). Either Holmgren believes in Quinn or he doesn't.

If he doesn't, no way he passes on Clausen unless he truly doesn't like him. And I have no clue whether he does or not.

Good teams have good QBs. It matters more than anything else.

We could end up being eternally mediocre. How many high picks are we going to get? It's a fair question and gives us some reason to ponder them in the draft heavily.

If we end up liking a particular quarterback, we should go ahead and get him. If not, take someone else.

You draft BPA, not for need. If Eric Berry is sitting there along with Jimmy Clausen, you take Berry. Assuming you have a WR playing safety currently.

I just don't see #1 talent begging us to do anything drastic.

If Holmgren does then i would have to follow suit, seeing how i don;t get paid the big bucks. I'm always hoping we have a big wig who can pick us a gem though.

This year, John Madden the Third, a kicker, has entered the draft. He can make 90 yard field goals, against the wind. He's easily the best player at his position. Do you take him with the number one overall pick?

...

Some positions just matter a lot more.

90 yard field goals into the wind? fuck yeah I take him in the first, who needs an offense if you get at least 3 every time you get the ball

Perhaps that was a bad example.

The best long snapper who ever lived.

Lol. I'm not saying that there are no exceptions. Obviously given that situation, you wouldn't take him 1st overall, which is why that's not a good example.

You always incorporate need in with value, but value wins the percentage battle. The Patriots have had successful draft after draft because they go with BPA, in accordance to need. Oakland gets in trouble because they draft for need (and 40 time) over value.

Hope that makes more sense.
