I'm excited my new Droid tablet is going to be here by the 14th, then I get to actually let my phone charge. Family coming up from Tennessee tomorrow, going to be cooking a feast on the grill. State of the football union sucks, nothing there to talk about that hasn't already been beaten into the ground 100 times over. On the bright side, new seasons of Burn Notice, Royal Pains, and White Collar are up and running. Chaos is pretty funny, so at least there's a little to be thankful for.

LOVE "Wilfred," "Louis," and was pleasantly surprised by "Necessary Roughness," which I was pulling for because a friend is one of the stars. First ep of "True Blood" was the worst ever... 2nd ep is directed by my best friend and regular collaborator and he vows that it's way better.

I think Wilfred is a great concept, but there's something there I just put my finger on that's keeping me from liking it. Watched both episodes so far, got a few laughs but it feels like it's missing on some good possibilities. Luis, just never been able to get into it, forced my way through a couple of episodes, can't do it anymore. Been told Necessary Roughness was pretty good by a couple of people now, going to have to check it out. Oh yeah, loving the new episodes of Futurama, they're almost as funny as the older ones. Maybe they didn't get all the staff back together or something. I was also told True Blood was really good by people that read the books, but we've been way too overexposed to weepy emo type vampires as of late, and to think, we're being punished with another Twilight movie soon enough. Can you believe they're remaking Judge Dread and Total Recall? Dread can only get better but Recall can only get worse. Pissed me off the Deadpool movie was canceled because there's no way you can make it PG-13. Green Lantern started off slow, but was pretty good once it got moving. Looking forward to Captain America.

I'm a bit sad Game of Thrones has run its first season already. HBO did a phenomenal job of bringing George R.R. Martin's Song of Ice and Fire books to life. The scripts were a great transition from the books and even brought across some of the most powerful lines from the books. The characters were made even more human than in the books. You saw their flaws and their nobility. It was a whole new level of depth and really made you feel for the characters. Characters like Jamie Lanaster and the Hound that were just hated in the first few books managed to worm their way into your hearts despite their flaws due to the fact their tragedies were revealed earlier rather than later helping you to see why they are they way they wound up. Every one of them were flawed in one way or another which made every one of them feel real. The music was good, what little of it there was. Outside the excellent theme music, which I keep on my Droid, what was scattered throughout seemed pretty period authentic. My only complaint is season one was too damn short at 10 episodes, it could have been made into 15 easily and not felt rushed, Song were some pretty damn big books. Maybe a little more fighting (the battles didn't really go into detail in the books and most purists would bitch), but some adrenaline wouldn't have hurt to go with the gore, sex and vulgarity (yup, those were big in the books). I'm getting Season one on Blue Ray the second it hit the stores (an Amazon preorder is a strong possibility), even thinking of subscribing to HBO when the second season rolls out instead of using my buddie's HBO Pass account to stream it through my phone to the big screen in 720p (have I ever mentioned how much I love my EVO 4G?). Christ, waiting for season 2 of Thrones is going to suck more than waiting between seasons of Sons of Anarchy. On to Fringe. They killed Peter! How the hell is it going to work without him? If he comes back I'm praying it's not something lame, cheesy or half-assed. I want my mind blown the same way he wiped himself from existence in order to bring peace between the two universes, what an ending! It's a great show, hope they keep it that way. New Conan coming out with Ron Perlman! I don't care if he's playing a sidekick or not, the guy has been my favorite actor since Hellboy. Been watching his B stuff like Mutant Chronicles, Ice Pirates and I Sell the Dead to get my by till the next season of Sons comes rolling along. Do we honestly need a Smurfs movie? REALLY?! Freakin SMURFS!!!!????? I'm really enjoying my childhood memories being raped and recycled for a couple quick bucks by Hollywood. It's bad enough they took Voltron, made it live action, cheesed it up and started calling it Power Rangers. Your Highness was a riot, really, totally worth watching. Really wish it had a wider release, it was a pain in the ass finding it in the theaters. I'd love to see Legend of Zelda made into a movie. It could be incredible if done right. I'm thinking Link vs Gannon, loads of fighting, all done Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon fight scene style. I'd love to be in on that project and help choreograph the fight scenes. Sorry, had to add this little tidbit... Super 8 was beyond horrible and a complete waste of time. It's like a couple of guys got stoned, sat down, and decided that it would be a good idea to mix ET, The Goonies and Cloverfield, then take everything that made those movies work, that was good about them, and toss it right out the window piecing together a movie with the remaining bits. I've honestly seen the SyFy channel toss something better together for their Saturday night originals. Hell, not something, ALL OF THEM were better than Super 8 and most of them really sucked.

The good news is that probably didn't take you long enough to be late for work and you got to contribute to the WR and QB threads when there isn't very much to talk about football wise today. I'm a BIG fan of football videos for the researchers in the house. I know oline shit bores people to snores; BUT we need to get that right side of the line looking like it belongs with the left side of the line instead of the Sesame Street version of "One these things doesn't belong with the other." Jason Pink's-tone, Shawn Lauvao and possibly Lee Ann "Pork Chop" Womack will be duking it out for the RG spot. I've got a gut it's Pink's-tone UNLESS Steinbach gets injured and we're problem solving another season of MASH on the oline. Here's some goodies vrs Robert Quinn when Pink's-tone was only a junior. There's a couple plays where he gets a TE or RB chipping on Quinn; but there's MORE plays where he does a great job all by himself on Quinn. At times, Pitt let their TE (#80) block Quinn all by himself with varied success. This video is actually compliments of Alo. Hard to be impressed with WR Baldwin at all in this game. I've you don't have speed to seperate, you better have hands better than Michael Jackson.

We recently go the Xbox linked to the PC so we could watch shows and movies or play music off of the PC on the Xbox which is really cool. Watching a lot of shows like Archer and Republic of Doyle lately. I don't watch a lot of TV because I don't have any cable lol. I get a few channels, the Canadian sports networks and some random other networks but nothing too great. I've been getting sucked in by the pre-release, post-E3 hype for Madden 12. I have been eating up the buzz and I think they might have actually made some improvements. I'm still just buying this entirely for the Browns fan nostalgia but it's been a few years since I last bought Madden (When Favre was on the cover in the Green Bay jersey, the year he went to NYJ) so I hope that maybe this will be worth the wait because it's not out until August 30th
__________________ BROWNS 2012: Its Weeden's job to lose, it was the second we took him #22 overall. We had a pretty good draft, and I'd like to start seeing some results. Fans already looking to next year and I don't blame them. I think we will have things to be excited about that we lacked last year and we have some real facepalm moments just like last year. It's going to be tough. We aren't Barking Hard for nothing. WOOF WOOF WOOF! ![]() |
