I don't know about the marginal LBs being re-signed. Could Costanzo really play a defensive down in a 4-3? I also don't think Trusnik fits, either. Maybe as a backup at strongside?

Elam is gone. He'll grab a starting gig elsewhere. Same with Toast Wright, although I would prefer to have him back for the nickel.

In order, I'd like to re-sign:

Dawson, Moore, Womack, Mitchell, Robaire Smith, Yates, Bernard, Wright, and Schaeffering. All the rest, best of luck with your new team.

I agree with Bronx's list, name for name. We're going to need a couple linebackers who could actually play, given Fujita's age and DQJ's injury history. We'll need guys who rotate in and have an impact... and then could potentially take over due to injury.

I have a sense we might sign at least one serious guy, like Poszlusny (sp?) or Ruud. If DQJ stays healthy, given the versatility, you might see that guy, DQJ, and Gocong in the lineup for a few years.

Ditto, also very intrigued with your Barnett theory. Dude was a beast at MLB for the Packers when they were running the 4-3, and continued when they made the switch. Injury was just a hiccup and not a trend. Would be an excellent acquisition.

Heckert likes to wheel and deal, and has a kings ransom in picks at his disposal. I think we have a very good chance of being active in the trade market.

Yeah, with the BROAD disparity in cap situations, I've read that trades will be a'flyin'.

Barnett would be really nice. He can play middle or WSLB, like DQJ. Gocong can play middle or SSLB.
