Default BROWNS OWN FA's

This is the list, and I have bolded who I would like to keep.

I want to keep Dawson and Moore, but two first rounders will never happen or I would take it for Dawson, obviously. He's been a great Brown and I would like to keep him here with an extended contract along with Thomas and Hillis for sure. Nobody is going to give up a second for Moore, either.

I would like to move on from Poke Chop, he struggled even at guard down the stretch last year, but that is assuming we sign a suitable swing man at T/G. If we keep Yates around, he can backup at both G/C and is more than adequate, as he proved last year.

Robaire is a must, IMO. Still a good player and versatile, plus healthy. Would make a good vet swing man and mentor for the kids.

Ready to move on from Elam unless he wants to stay cheap as a backup. I thought he played pretty well last year, but he doesn't fit this scheme with Ward.

Alex Smith is a better fit for the actual TE role in this scheme, so Estandia is not necessary except for camp. Bell is gone, Piscitelli may be one of the worst pound for pound players in the league, Sorenson's time is up with Hagg here, Stuckey gone, Trusnik probably not a fit anymore, and Vickers we know is gone.

Wright gets a reprieve just for the fact we have needs, so perhaps he can light a fire under his ass and realize he is not a diva corner and never was. He can start by committing to tackling and playing better and more physical bump.
Browns free agents

  • Unrestricted (Can sign with any team): RB Mike Bell; S Abe Elam; TE Greg Estandia; DE Jayme Mitchell; DB Sabby Piscitelli; DE Derreck Robinson; LB Matt Roth; DE Robaire Smith; DB Nick Sorensen; WR Chansi Stuckey; LB Jason Trusnik; FB Lawrence Vickers; G Floyd Womack; CB Eric Wright; G Billy Yates
  • Restricted (Browns have right of first refusal, a team must surrender a draft pick depending on the tender): TE Evan Moore (2nd round tender)
  • Franchise player (Browns have right of first refusal, a team must surrender two first-round picks): K Phil Dawson

Good stuff Riff! The only other player I could see us keeping is Womack, and that is if we don't sign another RT.

I would really like to upgrade from Poke Chop, Berns. He was not good at all going down the stretch last year, and I remember him getting abused by Ziggy Hood at guard. He may have been hurt, but an upgrade for a tackle/guard swingman would definitely help. He is a decent fallback option though.

John Greco would be nice to look at. Not a premier FA but he's young and healthy and can play both RG and RT. He is always in shape and will work his ass off for you. He'll never be a star but you could plug him in and he wouldn't get your QB killed. He's a backup and he knows it. He could be had fairly cheap. Hard to find someone who accepts his role.

I like it, Ytown. I see he is a Boardman boy too. We need a guy who can swing in and out so Pinkston has time to grow and mature. Yates could swing inside and Greco in and out. I also like Trautwein as a potential player for both tackle spots. Seems like a good developmental guy, he is smart.

He'll always be a role player but he's a hell of a kid and strong as an ox. Might have some trouble with quick outside rushers but he'll work his ass off for ya.

Actually him and Vallos are friends and Shurmur is said to have loved his work ethic when he was with the Rams.

Mitchell, Robinson and Robaire would be a loss of about 870 pounds to a dline that was already thin. Guess what we're doing REAL soon?

I'd like us to get Yates back; BUT UFA Chris Chester is listed as a G-C type as well with half the wear and tear.

I'm with you Riff, let's move on from Pork Chop if we can.

I would like to see us keep Jayme Mitchell, Robaire Smith, Stuckey (to at least compete during camp), Wright for depth, and Evan Moore...

I don't know really if there's anyone on that list though that makes me feel like we MUST keep them.

We had a pretty good draft, and I'd like to start seeing some results.
Fans already looking to next year and I don't blame them.
I think we will have things to be excited about that we lacked last year and we have some real facepalm moments just like last year.
It's going to be tough.
We aren't Barking Hard for nothing.

I think Womack's fate depends on whether the Browns can sign an upgrade free agent. OBR says they have one targeted.

Wright and Mitchell are shopping their services around the league. Rob ryan is trying to get Wright to come to Dallas. The Browns have stated they aren't interested in resigning Stuckey.

Moore's pretty much a done deal. Smith said he wants to return. I'm really up in the air about Womack. I guess the question would be; can we get someone better in here?

Mitchell moving on makes sense if the Browns are closing in on Ray Edwards.
