Camp is 4-5 days old. Ben Roethlisberger needed a tutor to tie his shoes as a rookie while he commonly showed up to the wrong huddle. His first week was such a disaster, Pittsburgh knee jerked an ENORMOUS contract extension for Tommy Maddox. Well, Maddox got hurt and the rookie QB ended up going 15-1 in the Faneca coined operation: "DON'T LOSE IT ASSHOLE!"
Don't forget I remember ALL of your countless glowing reports about Dennis Northcutt in practices
before they put the pads on and started hitting. Like clockwork, the guy who was allegedly a phenom in and out of the cuts couldn't get off the line of scrimmage when the pads were on. And on the rare occasions he DID get off the line of scrimmage - he always seemingly forgot to have his ear plugs in so he dropped everything. He was always too terrified to catch the ball over the middle. You fell in love with the IDEA of Northcutt, which made you the only person he ever burned consistently. The REASON I brought that up was the guy always projected HUGE false positives the first week of practice.
As for Little, he comes here with a physicality that exzcites me as a fan. HOWEVER, I think he's going to require patience that will be worth our while. One set of highlights I saw on Little was a game that featured him taking ALOT of handoffs from QB. I get the impression Little played about 1-2 years of WR tops before missing ALL of last year. Like you, I was one of Julio's biggest fans BEFORE the combine bandwagon picked up passengers. BECAUSE we researched him so extensively - what did we learn? He had a TON of critics questioning his route running and concentration lapses. I said I saw him play about 5 games here in SEC country and he looked much improved from alot of HARD work. Basically, Julio is 1 year ahead of Little in the development process. Aside from that, he is going to have a HOF TE plus Roddy White lining up on the other side of formation. You can't tell me Little has this same matchup perk in Cleveland. If that's not enough, his QB is entering his 4th year with the same coach and playbook. We have a QB that is 8 starts old, who will be asked to deprogram every one of those for a totally new offense. While I'm VERY confident in the offensive choices that have been made here - I'm also very realistic that the perfection won't be instant.
