| Sorry, I don't pay that much attention to other teams. But isn't Mario Williams almost like 300 pounds? Isn't that a little heavy for a linebacker?

So I'm clear: I like the Bunkley addition. We needed some depth there. It may turn out it was him instead of Robaire Smith. As he remembers how to play his position, the very athletic Brian Schaefering will be good, too. I like our DTs. Hey, I liked the Greco deal, too. No real downside and he has some fans. He's versatile. It's possible he could end up the most viable backup at RT. I like the Usama Young addition best of all. Very much the FS type for Jauron, great speed, great athlete, and we need that. I agreed with keeping Jayme Mitchell. I'm a little ambivalent on Jackson if Hardesty is healthy because your third RB doesn't see a ton of time. What do I think we're missing? A serious DE with pass rush skills. We hope Jayme Mitchell can be that across from Sheard, but neither have proven anything. I think DE is the marquee position in a 4-3 and we could do better. Should we trade for Osi? At the right price, certainly not a first. I'd consider a second but I'm still not sure. We absolutely need another corner and help at linebacker. I think we could use help at RT but there's not a ton out there. I would certainly love a veteran WR. |

Steve D is actually questioning Rubin off this trade. I thought he was smarter than that: Rep Blogs » Adding Bunkley raises questions about Ahtyba Rubin - Canton, OH - CantonRep.com Adding Bunkley raises questions about Ahtyba Rubin Jul 30th, 2011 @ 11:46 pm by Steve Doerschuk Brodrick Bunkley was one of Tom Heckert’s draft disappointments in Philadelphia. Now he’ll have a chance to be one of Heckert’s successes in Cleveland. The No. 12, 13 and 14 picks of the 2006 draft were Haloti Ngata, Kamerion Wimbley and Bunkley. Ngata is an All-Pro. Wimbley is a nice starter. Bunkley was a backup in Philadelphia’s 2010 defensive line rotation. He started five games. He’ll count as a success in Cleveland if he plays 20 productive snaps a game or thereabouts. He needn’t do much to offset the modest price Heckert paid to bring him to Berea, a Round 5 pick in 2012. One wonders whether adding Bunkley indicates that Heckert and Dick Jauron see Ahtyba Rubin as more a 3-4 nose man than a fit in the new 4-3. Or maybe it’s just a matter of wanting to go from hurting at tackle, as the team was before drafting Phil Taylor, to creating a strength, as could be the case with a Taylor-Rubin-Bunkley rotation. Bunkley is listed at 6-2, 306. He can’t be a 4-3 end. Bunkley was a backup last year, but he played plenty in Heckert’s final three years as Eagles GM … starting 47 of 48 games. One thing Bunkley has that Wimbley doesn’t … playoff experience. He has been in seven postseason games, including four starts in 2008 and ‘09. • • • The Browns made a lesser deal for John Greco, a Ravenna native (and ex-Toledo Rocket) who figures to be the swing tackle, backing up both Joe Thomas and Tony Pashos. If Pashos doesn’t have a good camp, the 6-4, 329-pound Greco could be the No. 1 right tackle. There’s a chance he will get a test drive at guard, where depth is suspect. Pat Shurmur was Greco’s offensive coordinator last season. Greco has appeared in 26 games (four starts) since getting drafted at No. 65 (Round 3) overall pick in 2008. • • • Tom Heckert for some reason or other thinks Jayme Mitchell will be a real player, even though Eric Mangini basically ignored him after he arrived in 2010. Pat Shurmur now is talking about bringing back Mitchell as an answer at defensive end. “That was a big signing,” Shurmur said today (as we hammer away just before midnight). “We feel like Jayme is a terrific pass rusher with a chance to be what a defensive end is in this league.”
