Default Cleveland Browns' GM Tom Heckert's 10 Best Free Agent Signings

Catered to the masses (agreed with Heckert!)

NFL Free Agency: Cleveland Browns' GM Tom Heckert's 10 Best Free Agent Signings | Bleacher Report

One of my assignments was to do something contrary to what I think and another was to make a best of" list... So I combined them. If you've talked to me on the board this week you know my opinions. Read the first slide and tell me what you think haha.

i viewed the slide you presented: Mike Vick was Andy's call. (just saying.)

The list was - for the most part - pretty solid. The Eagles have been good since the 1999 decision to take McNabb, which fit that Eagles organization very well. And Heckert, for his part, did both a great job learning how to feed Andy Read the players he wanted, but he learned how to feed the WCO and 4-3. So I am of the opinion he has ZERO ego and wants to know how to feed his current beast of a coach - Pat Shurmur.

Just my opinion. He isn't perfect and neither is that slide you produced. But he has some pedigree and I for one love the "Reid University" he graduated from. Even better is he now works for Andy Reid's mentor Mike Holmgren.

I mean holy shit man, we are the Cleveland Browns and Holmgren and Heckert want to turn us around!

I LOVE YOU RANDY LERNER!

Heckert was a large part of the building that took place after getting McNabb in '99. Director of Player Personnel from '01-'03. From '03 to '06 he was the Vice President of Player Personnel and then took a leap to GM in 2006.

I don't think you can credit all of the NFC championships and solid rosters just to one man, Heckert probably had a big part in a lot of the action. I didn't go too much into his pre-GM days, besides the Kearse honorable mention - for that reason.

I'm making a better article for tomorrow with 10 video clips of Hillis's biggest plays (another more fun assignment) - that Heckert list wasn't much fun.

Hey Mikey...I know you from "that" other board...welcome aboard. I saw your write up on T Pryor ...I dont want that punk within 100 yard of Berea. He single handedly set O State back 5-10 yrs with his selfishness. Hes got Drew "I want My money" Rosenhaus as his agent and hes known for representing head cases...Thanks, but no thanks. Didnt mean to veer off topic, but wanted to throw that in.....back to regular programming

I don't think I wrote the TP article. I wouldn't be able to be impartial, AT ALL.

Mikey, do you know that Tom Heckert's father and Bill Davis's (our LB coach) father were joined at the hip at a small college in Michigan (forget the name, right now) and also in high School football at Austintown Fitch near Youngstown. Heckert's father was a scout for the Browns and Bill Davis's father was a Player Personnel guy with Philly.

Great interweaving of the families between the Browns, NE Ohio and the Eagles. Jaws and Sr. Davis were very close friends because of their Eagles ties and their Youngstown ties.
