Read a couple different things about that, Mikey. Pluto first said that his sources told him they had Mo, Robo, Mitchell, and Little competing outside and might look for a veteran slot because they saw only Norwood and Cribbs competing there.

Now they've been moving guys in and out of the slot, including Little. Might be very fluid.

I think Mo's injury is a godsend for Robiskie. He really needs to take advantage of it while he can, though. I think Shurmur has mentioned him zero times while talking mostly about Little, Moore, and Norwood.

LOL! God bless that persistence of subliminals that everybody hates Robo except those that have seen him in action this year. I think it all depend on where one placed their marriage vows to the Robo controversy. Josh Cribbs really appreciates Robo stepping up to divert some of the heat.

Heh. I'm sure he does.

This team needs guys who can get open, play fast and quick. It's a SERIOUS issue that might determine Colt McCoy's future. I'd trade Robo for a six of Dos Equis if you threw in the limes.

The offense that Shurmur runs really doesn't have a designated slot receiver per se. He likes to motion guys around and create mismatches, a lot of time using the TE/TEs and their size advantage as an x-factor. Heckert reiterated as much when he described the type of receivers he looks for, saying they must have experience on the outside and a familiarity with the entire route tree.

I found a good tune that explains this better.

Bingo. I have been saying for awhile now this whole notion of slot versus outside has been way too scrutinized. When they drafted Cameron it sent a definite message as to their philosophy, because it means they love what Moore brings but want to make sure they have his replacement. Moore needs to stay healthy.

All good points, but I'll counter: Shurmur brought Amendola to St. Louis from Philly and made him into a poor man's Welker. Reportedly loved the guy, as do the Rams, obviously. Pluto and Walker both reported that Shurmur wanted a pure slot guy and might look for a veteran.

My point isn't that said "pure slot" will be on the field all the time or even a lot... but that Shurmur likes having that card in his deck. He sees it as a pretty specific job and he's praised Jordan Norwood out of the slot a lot so far this year.

I think that's put Norwood on the map, his ability to fill that role in formations that call for 3 WRs including a slot, a la Welker, Shipley, Amendola, etc. It might earn him a roster spot.

Brandon Jackson said the same thing in his interview on the Browns official website, that he's having to learn new terminology and plays because GB runs a spread style offense.

Deciphering the spread from the WCO to me is this: 4 wides consistently (regular receivers) means spread.
