What will be interesting is how they figure the numbers to be kept at each position. Looking at the roster I see the biggest need as LB depth. Another DE would be a big plus, because Robinson needs to move back inside. The key is that we have a lot of players that can swing and play more then one position. Yates is listed as the backup center but he also is the backup at RG. Braxton is the backup at both tackles and Pinkston is playing inside to get his feet wet but he is also projeced as a swing player who can play LG, RG and RT. We are young in the defensive backfield but we are fast and athletic. Now it's about learning and getting experience for them. And of course the WR, what post would be complete without mentioning the WRs. MO, Robo, Little and Cribbs are the top 4 and Mitchell, Norwood and Haggerty fight for one of two other spots. It's early in camp and things could really change by adding a few veterans. The first two preseason games will tell a lot and you might see the depth chart shuffle a bit. My first impression was...........wow, we really did get young. |

LB and DE. Totally agree. With Skrine, Patterson, and now James Dockery playing really well (I hope it's them and not the offense), we look pretty solid there. At LB, we have Maiava and nothing else behind the starters. At DL, Jayme Mitchell is resting so Derreck Robinson is starting. Ouch. Nuff said. I'm starting to feel better at WR, part of it being about keeping Moore on the field, but also Little gaining consistency and improved vibes on my whipping boy Robiskie. |

At WR we have a cast of guys who have the vibe of being, at a minimum, capable 3rd and 4th WRs, and a couple who look like possible #2s for this year. Even though we don't currently have anybody really looking like a number 1, our hybrid TEs render our cast of thousands at WR capable enough to make me comfortable that the position isn't going to be an outright embarrassment. Not great, but we can at least field something credible and have significant possibility for growth from within. At LB, I question whether we even have backup quality on the roster for WSLB, let alone a starter. I'm also not sold on DQJ (he'd be better outside, I think, where there is less traffic in the running game). Further, is there a single backup LB who looks to be a keeper or worth developing? Ugh. DL is a bunch of question marks outside of our starters, and we are starting two rookies and a journeyman! Holy crap. |

D'Qwell will be a monster in the 4 - 3. Write it down. He beasted it at Maryland as a 4 - 3 MLB and was never cut out for the 3 - 4. I can see D'Qwell revitalizing his career in the new D scheme.

I'm really interested to see how Brandon Braxton looks in a game situation this weekend, from the limited things I've heard he is legitimately taking first team reps from Pashos. It would be nice to get a capable young starter on the o-line for basically nothing. I also am really looking forward to seeing Jonathan Haggerty based off of the camp he had last year. |

I wonder what is going to happen at corner this year. Who will be starting after the first month and who will be the 3rd corner? I'm worried about Sheldon Brown losing another step at 32. If so, does a guy like Mike Adams offer us a solution or do we comb waiver wires hot and heavy? I'm hoping Buster Skrine rises to the occasion and earns alot of playing time. It will also be nice to see what Coye Francis has. As others have stated, the LBer depth and history of wear and tear within the corps is a concern. Last preseason, Titus Brown really caught my eye in the Packer's game. I'm looking forward to keeping an eye on him again this preseason. It'll be interesting to see if he finds the 4-3 easier. I LOVED his reads and zone depth. Kaluka actually has starting experience while Brian Smith seems like good depth. I'm kind of disappointed Blake Costanzo isn't back. Fujita, when healthy, was a difference maker last year. Let's hope he's back at that level because he's also a credible leader on the field. Interior dline looks cozy all of a sudden. DE might start a little raw; but I anticipate this turning into a good rotation once people starting gettign reps behind them. All spots left of center including center graded out real good in 2010. The right side remains a mystery. I got fingers and toes crossed that Lauvao bullhorns this opportunity. If so, it's time for Pashos to show us why he's gettign all those pesos. RB and TE seem rock solid. As we are in the process of drafting more keepers than the previous regimes, it still remains vital that we avoid injury. If not, it's the quickest reminder of what bad drafting since 1999 can lead to when injuries to planned upgrades complicate science.

I realize Momass has not practiced yet..but he should be on the depth chart somewhere... anywhere... but I would think even without any field time... as a #2 regardless. Maybe even 1st guy at one spot or the other. Otherwise... Looks like a winner.
