Default The Tuneup Game: Browns at Eagles

This is the game the starters play the most... and also the game we get Hardesty some action and... MAYBE... even Massoquoi. We saw a lot of somewhat unexpected blitzes and stunts from the Lions and handled it fine and I expect we'll see live bullets from the Super Team as well.

Talk about contrasts: You have physical freak Mike Vick (who physically hung and drowned dogs) versus the more cerebral but also athletic Colt McCoy... running about the same offense, really. You have a ton of familiarity but teams with hugely disparate expectations this season: The Browns think they can surprise while the Eagles are gunning for all the marbles and are willing to carry what appears to be a Double Cap.

You have a Browns offense that has looked seriously, deeply, alarmingly in sync... and an Eagles offense that looked like shit this past game with Vick throwing three picks.

Interesting game for sure.

I always worry about playing good teams when they come off of embarrassing losses. The Browns are in feel-good mode and they're in oh-shit mode.

Last week we were without 4 starters on both sides of the ball. Let's hope that doesn't happen again.

The offense HAS to show it can run. The passing game needs that counterbalance to continue to be effective.

Did we ever hear anything about Evan Moore? I guess no news is good news.

Per the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Browns TE Evan Moore may have suffered a concussion in Friday night's preseason game.
This is especially a concern because Moore has had concussion problems in the past. The athletic Browns No. 2 tight end caught two touchdown passes against the Lions and has starred in camp. His return timetable is unclear. Aug 20, 12:15 AM

Thanks BTK. I'm pretty concerned about his durability. The hit just didn't look that hard. I'm betting he's done for the preseason. Thursday is too soon and the 4th preseason game won't be starters.

We're pretty banged up at TE. I think Jordan Cameron's hammy is still bothering him: he didn't look very explosive in the Lions game.

Cameron didn't do much in the first game against the Pack either. Maybe we will be rolling with 4 TE's if there's injury concerns, wasn't Watson out too?

We had a pretty good draft, and I'd like to start seeing some results.
Fans already looking to next year and I don't blame them.
I think we will have things to be excited about that we lacked last year and we have some real facepalm moments just like last year.
It's going to be tough.

Watson and Moore are so incredibly important to McCoy and this offense... need to let them heal. First read on Moore was that it's a "mild" concussion and he felt just "a little lightheaded." I'm hoping that's all it is.

This is getting to be a pain in the ass just beneath all the feel good vibes: Because of the variety of injuries, especially to Massoquoi, it's tough to really focus in on the primary lineup. I personally think in an alternate universe you'd have Little, Massoquoi, Moore, and Watson on the field most of the time with Norwood and Cribbs fitting into various packages.

I think that's where we'll be eventually.

Watson was back in practice today as was Cameron. For all the talk about Robo, he and Cribbs again lined up with the #1s. He may lose some playing time when Mo returns and Little develops a bit more but IMO, I don't see him being cut. bottom line is he does need to step up this week and show he deserves t be on the field and that he can make a difference. He has been given a big opportunity this camp and hasn't taken advantage of it.

Some like Robo and some do not but instead of throwing the guy under the bus in the media it should and will be decided on the field. I trust Shurmur will put the guys on the field who give this team the best chance to win. Just a short few weeks ago a lot of people here were throwing Cribbs under the bus as not really being a serious receiver.

It's decided on the field by smarter guys then us who don't always see the "grass greener on the other side". But, it's fun to discuss.

With the way this snake bitten franchise is, I would put the starters in for the first quarter of this so called "tune up" game and take them out, and just start the backups for the last game. What good is a tune up game if your best players get hurt and are unable to play anyhow? Just want our starters to be healthy for the season opener.

There's something to be said about OTAs and minicamps. You can work out and be in sha[e but being in football shape is another story. All these hammys aren't just the Browns. It's all over the league.

I have never been on the Cribbs bandwagon at WR...but admittedly...he is much better this year and would love to see Momass and little start with him in the slot as the season goes forward.. I do not think we will see that for a number of weeks though... it will be determined if Robo decides to come with his big boy pants on and Little making the moves needed to get someone out of his way....he has looked good so far.

That's pretty much how I feel about Robo and his situation, Y: Injuries and Little's learning curve gave him a window to show what he could do in this offense... and he's been about as scintillating as ever.

I haven't missed a preseason or regular season game since he was drafted... and I just don't see anything but a guy who's really sloggy off the line and easy to cover. Yeah, he can catch... so that qualifies him to play catch, not NFL WR.
