Clausen poised to visit Browns, Rams, Bills
Posted by Mike Florio on March 26, 2010 2:02 PM ET
Browns coach president Mike Holmgren recently said regarding former Notre Dame quarterback Jimmy Clausen, "I wish I liked him more." Apparently, Holmgren plans to give it a try. Per a league source, Clausen will make pre-draft visits to the Browns. We're told that Clausen also will visit the Rams and the Bills.

Mary Kay Cabot, of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, reports the Cleveland Browns have said they will spend extra time with University of Cincinnati QB Tony Pike

Wilson to visit Browns
Kyle Wilson (Boise State) is slated to visit the Browns, according to Scout.com. Jacksonville, Dallas, Pittsburgh, Tennessee and St. Louis are also expected to meet with the talented cornerback. Our View: Wilson is highly-regarded among cornerback prospects, and is projected to go somewhere in the first two rounds of the draft. Cleveland could use his help after ranking 29th in pass defense in 2009.

The Cleveland Browns to take a look at Texas safety Earl Thomas
Cleveland will host Thomas for a two-day visit on April 5-6, according to a source. Thomas is widely regarded as the second-best safety in this year's NFL draft behind Tennessee's Eric Berry. The Browns hold the No. 7 overall pick and are showing significant interest in defensive backs such as Thomas, Berry and Florida cornerback Joe Haden. That could be a strong indication of the front office's thinking and direction in the first round. Thomas is an intriguing prospect who most scouts grade very close to Berry, a projected top-10 pick. If Berry goes early, as expected, this could help Thomas' draft stock with other teams looking for a playmaking safety.

Browns are now up to 14 confirmed visits. I am not sure how many you are allowed....and if I remember LOCAL guys don't count....but I know there is a limit. And from what I hear, Bradford and Clausen are among the guys the Browns will bring in but have not officially scheduled yet.

Keep in mind, the Browns did not do any interviews at the combine because they felt the 15 minute limit was insufficient for a proper interview for the QB position.

Keep in mind that there's a difference between a private workout - usually conducted in the prospect's home city or at his college campus - and an official visit to Berea. I believe NFL teams are limited to thirty of the latter.

Browns Work Out Utah OT
Posted by: Barry McBride
on Saturday, March 20, 2010 at 12:

Per Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post and Ravens Insider, the Cleveland Browns have worked out OL Zane Beadles of Utah.
Beadles is a 6’4'”, 307 pound tackle who Chris Steuber ranks as #14 among all the offensive tackles available in this year’s draft. Here’s Beadle’s prospect profile from Steuber. Beadles has played left guard, but was moved to left tackle before his sophomore year.
The four-year starter beings a lot of versatility to the table, which is going to make him a solid mid-round selection. The Browns are likely looking at him as someone who can play left guard and back up Steinbach for now - and perhaps challenge for a starting job in years go come.
A name to watch late in the third or early in the fourth.

Patrick Robinson is coming in. Saw that on OBR. Lots of corners we could get in 2 or 3... interesting.

I've never had less of a clue who the Browns might pick at #7. Or maybe I'm just more aware of my cluelessness, now that I think about it. I nailed Wimbley, Braylon, and Willie Green. Surely didn't see Gerard Warren or Joe Thomas coming.

I would say I bottomed out with my quest to get Quinn at #3 (!).

No worries, it happens to the best of us. Unless of course your name is Rich, then you NEVER miss. Ever.

Holmgren has everybody guessing, he comes out and says NO to Clausen, which is weird, but perhaps it's mind games. Who knows.
