That is the question. As has been well mentioned, the Kokinis mess happened because George wanted complete control over personal decisions which angered Mangini, who thought it was to be a "partnership", which turned the 2 friends into a bitter fued, which led toward Kokinis to basically "quit"(and act like a ahole to top it) before being officially fired in the fall of 2009. Lerner throws a fit and brings in Holmgren. Then Mangini is basically made into a lame duck. Now lets say, Lerner stays calm. Holmgren never comes and Lerner/Mangini bring in another personal guy to work with Mangini. Now this personal guy would be under Eric. The 2010 offseason would have been different. What is better. Holmgren as President hiring his new people..........or Eric Mangini in his third season? We will never know. |

Look, I was in the camp that wanted to keep Mangini. He's gone and Shurmur's in. Its one game with a shortened pre-season and a rookie head coach. Was I angered to see all the stupid stuff culminating in the defense not getting the formation call and watching the Bengals throw a TD against a team still in the huddle? Yes. That said, its the proverbial way-too-early to start this stuff. |

Wow, years of bad drafting, bringing in overpriced over the hill underachieving free agents, and never having the coaches and front office on the same page and we want to throw the closest thing to a real team we've had since the return because the entire team has had 3 weeks or less in a new system. Yes, I'm massively disappointed like the rest of you and pissed we've dne nothing to shore up RT yet again. Every year its been no depth, little talent, and firing the staff and turning over the roster. I'm not too surprised we looked totally out of sync, but I was hopeful we'd look better. I'm going to give it to week 7 before I flip out.

Woulda, shoulda, coulda... If it had been MY decision, I think I probably still would have brought in Holmgren and Heckertt (that guy KNOWS his draft stuff!!). But I would NEVER have fired Mangini after last year. - I would NEVER have hired a rookie HC and named him OC too. If HC/GM is too big a job for many seasoned HC's, HC/OC is too big a job for a ROOKIE HC. - But, like the tootsie pop mystery, the world will never know. It is what it is. Am I happy about it? HELL NO!!!! And I think what pissed me off most is: - Shurmur SMILING on the sidelines as we LOST THE FREAKIN' GAME!!! Just reminded me of DA and his little friend laughing on the sidelines of Arizona last season. We can't change the past. I don't agree with what is going on with the organization, but all I can do is wait and see. Then I'll say I told you so!! lol |

You can't select a coach and then pick his GM. Doesn't work well. Especially with someone who loves control like Mangini. Mangini can't draft. For all the bitching about Holmgren, he gave us a real GM - Heckert. Regardless of anything else, we have someone can draft well. That will help us in the long run more than anything. So no, I wouldn't change anything.

One thing you can always count on is knee jerk reactions on this site. WTF.......................16 other teams will lose this weekend but only here are people ready to dump those running the organization and start over after week one. Sorry, but this is just to stupid.......I got to pack it in and move on. Can't even believe I opened up this thread. |

Knee jerk reactions to one game all over the board. Did anyone expect a team with so many young kids to go out and play without making mistakes. The Steelers got beat by 27 points and looked like shit maybe they need to fire their coach and GM and get a new QB. |
