I wouldn't DREAM of buying a plane ticket and paying a couple hundred bucks a ticket to watch Jake Delhomme throw to Chansi Stuckey and Mo Massoquoi. Has to be the worst battery in the NFL by miles. Clearly, we have the worst offensive skill personnel in the entire league... and I don't think you'll find anybody to dispute that. So... what are we gonna do? I keep hearing we'll continue to not address is in the first round. There's nothing to do in free agency, I guess. We don't have a serious Top 10-15 type QB and don't seem to be looking to get one. What's the plan? How are we planning to build a 21st Century offense that can put up 400 yards or so in most weeks? Complete 65 percent of our passes for 4,000 yards and 30 TDs? Right now, I'm way farging bored with our offseason. I think if/when we add Sims to Pashos, we have a pretty good offensive line. That's about all I can say. We probably rate 32nd at QB and 32nd at WR. INC at RB, or 25th. We won't be able to score. It'll be unwatchable. I just don't see how we address it with mid-round picks. |

With the addition of Peyton Hillis, I think our run attack will be excellent. Did you even watch the last 4 games last year? Plus, Robiskie will be improved, and just the mere fact that Robert Royal and John St. Clair won't be anywhere near the field upgrades our offense immensely. With Ben Watson on board, I think we definitely need some more talent at receiver, and we'll be in decent shape. Jacoby Ford's a burner and might fit the bill. |

WR's are notorious for 'getting it' in the 2nd or 3rd year...so despite your hand wringing, the fact is the Browns had 2 true rookies (MoMass/Robo), 2 guys starting for the first time (Cribbs/Stuckey) and one vet who was playing S half the time (Furrey). This means that there is a HIGH PROBABILITY that the group of WR's we currently have are going to make some pretty significant strides this year. Add into this the fact that both Wallace and Delhomme are more accurate/consistent than what we had behind center last year...and the WR's will actually have the ability to KNOW when and where to be without worrying if the pass will be somewhere else. In addition, we have SIGNIFICANTLY upgraded the TE position. Royal (Mr. Drop) and Heiden (oft injured) are replaced with Watson (1st rd) and Moore (looked promising). This too will take a lot of heat off of the WR and QB. Then, if you add the signing of Pashos and the replacement of Lewis at RB with younger, faster, hungrier guys...and this offense may just surprise you (with or without the big splash you ask for). I have a feeling we will see a QB of some value come in to be groomed. We will also likely see another OL get drafted in 4-5 rds. I would not be surprised to see us take a shot at a total speedster WR bottom of 1st or top of 2nd (via trade if necessary) like Golden Tate or Benn or even Gilyard. Still, to belittle the upgrade of key positions like RT and TE as not even being a start...not sure I get it.

So, Chicken Little, you expected the super bowl in one offseason. We haven't even finished FA or had the draft yet and you are already sticking a pin in the balloon. Man, WTF the team hasn't had a practice or OTA. So much for rookies grow the most between their first and second years. |

This should make you happy Shep Quote:

Shep, what are you worried about? Delhomme's last season was just a bad season, that's all. The Panthers REALLY don't know what they gave up. What a bunch of maroons! |

I've seen arguments that rookies don't contribute, now you think they'll make significant contributions. Which is it? I'm getting confused with all these conflicting accounts. |
