| Rookie Watch: Thomas picking up steam Originally Published: September 27, 2011 By Matt Williamson Scouts Inc. 4. Phillip Taylor, Browns DT (first round, No. 21) Taylor had another sack in Week 3. Known as and built like a run-stuffer, he brings much more than that to the Browns' defense. He certainly isn't in this class yet, but he has some striking similarities to B.J. Raji -- and that is extremely high praise. NFL -- Daniel Thomas has emerged as the Miami Dolphins' featured back - ESPN

I don't think Julio Jones should be on the list, He had two bad games, and then this game where the author wants to give him credit, every analyst I've heard after the game has said they think the Falcons lost because they were trying to force the ball too much to Jones to get him involved and justify what they gave up to draft him. I think Sheard's had a bigger impact on our team than Jones has had on his.

I'm sure I have, but did I mention this is the single greatest move we've made in the draft since forever? Oh I'd be so pissed with Mr Not Even Braylon Edwards 2.0 on the roster. I'm loving the new front office that much more as the weeks roll by.

I think it's a bit early to make any judgement on Julio Jones. WRs rarely come into the league and make a big impact their rookie year. It's going to take 2 to 3 years before we'll know who Jones is and how good the trade was. The one thing we do know is the trade resulted in CLE drafting guys at positions which can help a team right away. |

I noticed the author commended Dolphins C Pouncey (#9 on the rookie list) by saying he "isn't a liability in protection" after mentioning Taylor (#4 rookie) got another sack this week. Talk out of both sides of your mouth much?

Fully agree that what CLE gets/does with that #1 next year factors into evaluating that trade down the road. |

Next year's WR class will be pretty strong, should that be a position we need to address (probably). The more important thing now is that Taylor and Sheard are looking like nice hits. According to Pro Football Focus, Jabaal Sheard had eight pressures against the Dolphins. That's more than Ray Edwards, a guy folks wanted to hand a lot of money to, has in all three weeks combined. |
