Why are they extending Gocong and not announcing the Hillis extension we all want to hear?

I will say I like the fact the brain trust is locking in guys to new deals. I just hope it shows On the field

This is a bit of a surprise but I like the move. Gocong's not a bad LB, he gets the job done. One of those players you don't hear anything bad about (at least this season) and I thought he had a great game against Miami. He's hardly outstanding and there's nothing that says he will be our starter if we were to acquire someone better. He's effectively in his prime right now and he'll be 30 when his contract's up which means he shouldn't be "over the hill" should we keep him around past that as well.

Good move overall, I'd say he's our second best LB, he's playing better than Fujita right now.

That's pretty big money. Almost a sure bet he's starting the next few years.

Oh no i certainly agree for that money he WILL be starting, at least next season. Plus we can't expect Fujita to be around for the remainder of that period as well so I agree that Gocong will be a starting OLB for this team during his contract period. IF we were to bring on someone better though, his spot isn't set in stone that was all I was trying to say.

Wow, didn't see this coming but admitedly I'm not a big fan of Gocong. I was hoping DQJ got an offer like this from the Browns after he proved he could stay healthy, so far he is having a very good year. Somehow I think DQJ's price tag just went up a little...
