We gotta lot of work to do. I was worried about facing a good defense, and we saw what happens. This is a process, it is going to take more time. Nobody is on the same page out there, and that ain't gonna cut it. Bunch of drops, including 4 by Hards, but I am not sure it would have mattered anyway. Everything they do they make it look hard, it annoys the hell out of me. We were pretty healthy today too. Get the bye in and maybe they can turn this around.

The Browns were a little arrogant at WR for a second straight year, thinking it as all about coaching. We need better, faster WRs, and a QB who can throw accurately 30-40 yards downfield between levels, not just lobbed over the top. Hey, things change, but if the draft's today, you're going QB/WR in that order. |

You know who else was arrogant at WR? St. Louis. Bradford needed a go-to guy and they went with Sims-Walker and draft picks in rounds 3/4, both slow-ish. These personnel guys who don't recognize what this league is about now? They need to wake the F up. The Browns needed to take their passing game to the next level and they just didn't commit to it. I understand that it's a show-me year for Colt (so far, he's gonna be keeping the seat warm for Luck or Barkley next year)... but we didn't really help him much. |

Wow, never imagined Shep would call for another QB after McCoy throws for 350 yards @ 66% of his throws with at least 6 drops. I knew eventually Shep would call for using one of our 1st rounders next year on QB because that is his love but I didn't think it would be this early after arguably Colt's best game statistically. If only Colt was from California or played for San Fran he would be given 7 plus years to prove himself. |

Riff, I know it sucks and it isn't fun to hear... but we should've brought in an elite #1 type WR (Julio Jones, Sidney Rice). But we didn't and it shows... as McCoy's limitations are starting to show, and pretty consistently. His accuracy all but disappears at 20-25 yards, as Alo noted (jump balls). I see him as a guy who could become a decent quarterback, an Orton type with less arm, but not Rodgers, Manning, Stafford, Brees, Brady, etc. If you watched Alex Smith's second half today, you realize how much better McCoy would have to get to be THAT good... and it's a long, long ways. He's not a guy you build your long-term future around, in my humble opinion. If the Browns keep starting him for one, two, three more years, it's just delaying the inevitable: We need a Stafford or Newton or Ryan or Rodgers. We need a serious, big-time, elite QB. It's the simple reality of the league we play in. I like him better than I did when he was drafted... but he's not gonna win any Super Bowls as a starting quarterback. |

McCoy wasn't good, Jax. He piled up garbage yards while scoring no points. He was bad downfield again. He didn't lead his team back from a deficit because, as the "anonymous DC" told PFW, you take away his short game, you take away his whole game. Sorry. I know it's gonna make for much gnashing and shredding, but you can believe me now or believe me later. I know a lot of people here who were staunch Charlie Frye supporters, too. He's not our long-term guy unless you wanna go between mediocrity and pretty good for the next decade. He ain't gonna become a dominant passer. We've tried a couple third round picks in Frye and McCoy and history says that's not gonna pan out. We tried a sixth rounder in Anderson. We tried Holcomb and Dilfer and Garcia and Delhomme. Some day, we'll have to get our Stafford or Rodgers. Until then? Like Chuckie said, we're just waiting. |

San Fran only won because Philly gave away the game time and again. San Fran won despite Alex Smith and his 7 years experience. Try to be at least half as patient with McCoy as you've been with Smith. Maybe if Smith has another 7 years he could have San Fran in the Superbowl? Mmm? |
