It holds water when your back is leaving yards on the field because one guy is taking him down with a low leg hit through what could possibly be a big gainer in a big hole. Hillis has a style that warrants a "book", that is the whole point. he may start to adhust his style more to avoid those so much, I am not saying he can't. I don't see how anybody can say Hillis hasn't left some possible big gainers out there this year, cuz he most certainly has. When he gets up and smashes the ball with both hands it is because he knows he just blew a big opportunity by not keeping his feet. We watched a couple years of tippy toes leaving big yards on the field, and we can't afford that with this team. hell, nobody can afford it, you only get so many windows for big plays. Again, this is more about defending Hardesty and the fact that both backs are important for the future of this franchise, not to slam Hillis--He is one of my favorite players all time, but I also know we have another pretty good back who is just now getting his feet wet and you need two of them, there is no doubting that.

Wait a sec. 95% of backs "leave yards on the field". I've watched Hardesty do it and I watched Chris Johnson do it yesterday as well. The inference here seems to be that Hillis is deficient. I'm not seeing it. For the occasional play where Hillis "just misses" breaking into the next level there are four plays where he grinds out an extra 10 yards where the more elusive back would not have. Its part of your style. Again, Stephen Jackson is more of the big back, tough yards type of guy. It worked in St Louis. I'm good with a platoon system for all the wear and tear reasons. It has nothing to do with Hillis all of a sudden being deficient or not as effective because of a "book" on him. I didn't see that yesterday as he looked pretty damn good running (and catching) the ball. |

Not really upset over the loss. Expected to get thrashed. Really more apathetic about my beloved Browns than I have been since I started watching football. It's sad. Poor coaching, poor play design, poor play calling, poor personnel decisions ...on both sides of the ball. Plays take too long to develop, and it's not helping our boy Colt out. We're clearly a bottom 5 team ...again. No improvement in year 3 of a rebuild, with another draft and free agency period to build off of. Really pathetic. I see some of you trying your damnedest to make up excuses and stay positive ...good on you. I was excited about our prospects for this year ...especially after landing one of the easiest schedules in the league. We were a hair away from 8-8 last year with one of the most brutal schedules in NFL history. Hard for me to rationalize what I see out there. We've got no fight. We're not a tough out. We look brutal against the worst teams in the league ...we won 2 in spite of ourselves. Maybe I can look forward to a decade from now when we finally get good again ...my kid will be 12, so it'll be a good time to get it done. Are we going to give Shurmur more than 2 years? At least he didn't have to totally dismantle the team from the ground up, and get rid of our best players due to the cancer they spread. Regression across the board is what I see. Spin it however you want, right now we are deplorable. Golf is correct though, how we are playing at the end of the season means more than right now ...but I am just not seeing the basic priinciples of growth, and have seen zero to make me believe we are going in the right direction. 65 throws? LOL What? Glad we have a bye, because we have a shit ton to fix.

| How is that the point? You're arguing because the Jets aren't giving up on a QB they invested multiple draft picks into who helped get his team a hair away from the Superbowl in his rookie year we should give a 3rd round project at QB who hasn't done anything the same exact rope. |

There are some positives though. Not many but a few. For one the WR's don't suck that bad. The oline isn't horrible, it isn't great but it's somewhat solid. An upgrade at RT and it'll be better. DQJ is awesome. Haden is awesome. The defensive line has alot of potential. We do need work though, no doubt. We'll just have to see how we look by game 16 I guess and take it from there. I won't be letting it bother me as much personally, because it is what it is and they are what they are. |

| Actually you didn't Quote:
You said they are playing him to SEE if he is better. That's a long way from playing the best RB.
