Default Brandon Lloyd on trade block

Quote:
It looks like we’ll actually have an interesting name to talk about leading up to the NFL trading deadline.

Mike Klis of the Denver Post reports that the Broncos have been in talks with teams regarding wide receiver Brandon Lloyd. Klis says “three or four” teams are interested, with Carolina and Tennessee believed to be among them.

It’s rare for anyone of note to be dealt before the deadline because teams are usually loath to admit it’s a rebuilding year so early in the season. But Lloyd is in the last year of his contract and the Broncos aren’t going to be the same pass-happy team they were under Josh McDaniels. It’s clear they are rebuilding.

Denver also has wideouts Demaryius Thomas and Eddie Royal returning from injury soon. Second year pro Eric Decker has been a solid starter while Royal is out.
Lloyd should be an attractive trade chip. He makes only $1.395 million and led the league in receiving yards last year. Lloyd leads Denver with 283 yards (in four games) this year. He missed one game due to injury.

Weird they would put one of their best players on the trade block. Anyways.... I'm not saying, i'm just sayin'.....

whooptedooo... I'd trade my dinasaur WR from a team going nowhere too. They have a group of good young WR's to grow with Tebow..cut the fat now. Get the youth on the field and get draft picks for the old dudes.. Kyle Orton probably ends up in Miami before the deadline too. .. That's what we are doing. draft picks and youth. Denver is doing the right thing.

Last year for Lloyd was an aberration for him, much like Braylon's 2007 year. He's never had a year close to those successes before that and I doubt he would have come close to those numbers this year (Though he's still on pace to reach 1000+ yards receieving) He doesn't even have 1 TD catch yet this season compared to 11 last year.

Denver has everything to gain in trading away Brandon Lloyd.

We had a pretty good draft, and I'd like to start seeing some results.
Fans already looking to next year and I don't blame them.
I think we will have things to be excited about that we lacked last year and we have some real facepalm moments just like last year.
It's going to be tough.
We aren't Barking Hard for nothing.

Holy shit, did you see that catch he made last week? He can ball. He's only 30 (all year long) and we could use some maturity. It would be a pretty amazing addition for a fourth round pick. He's also a whippet who won't lose his speed early... like a Derrick Mason who can still play at 37.

We have plenty of youth at WR in Little and Mo. Add Lloyd and you're set for at least three years.

But I know we won't be doing that. I think we're pretty set on a WR in round one. Michael Floyd, please... if he's sober.

EE, he can't throw himself the ball. He can flat out catch. His aberration year was because he got looks.

He has great hands but doesn't have any speed. He's in the last year of his contract and will be a UFA at years end.

Got to have great hands and leaping ability if you don't have the speed. Maybe he's a refined, veteran Little....................nice if Little grew up to be that productive.

Lloyd's 6'1" and 180, a skinny guy with good quicks... everything Robo isn't. He could definitely play the slot, too. Gets open and makes catches. He's actually having a very good year with fewer looks. He'd fit in really nicely with Mo and Little.

The one disclaimer: He isn't a speedster, you're right. And we need speed.

Tough to average 18.8 yards per catch if you don't got speed.

Ummmm it's been the same guy throwing the ball to him this year as last year.. one year wonder dude.. They only won 4 games last year so a lot of those catches and td's were in garbage time. He can catch..but he's no game changer.. He's just ok. Not worth giving up a 3rd rounder which is what they are asking last time I heard. I would much rather use that 3rd rounder on a LB for us, since I believe we will get a WR with one of our top 3 picks next year.

He has 288 yards!! And the guy throwing the ball to him got benched for sucking and now they have a QB who passes like a high school junior.

Does somebody NOT think he'd be our best WR the first day in Berea?

Hells, yeah, to Robiskie and a fifth.
