Default GAMEDAY THREAD: VS. The Oakland Raiders

This game is going to be intense, and it's an important game for both teams. Today, The Browns and The Raiders both need to set the tone. The Browns just need a big game, from everyone. The Raiders, they're playing for Al Davis. We're in their house, this game is going to be huge. IF we can win on the road, even if it's an ugly win... we will be 3-2.

There are things I'd like to see, mainly players like Hillis and McCoy asserting themselves rather than a iffy running game and Colt playing "run for his life" for most of the game. The OL stepping up would be big today. Ditto, our D needs to step it up. If Haden's out, (don't know if that's been confirmed or not.) we will need our secondary to step up big time. Haden carries so much of the load it's not even funny.

I don't want to make any bold predictions. Say this is or is not a game we could win, bla bla bla. We all know we haven't been playing the prettiest football lately, the cynic in me says this week could be ugly against the emotionally charged Raiders but a win here would be so satisfying this week...

We had a pretty good draft, and I'd like to start seeing some results.
Fans already looking to next year and I don't blame them.
I think we will have things to be excited about that we lacked last year and we have some real facepalm moments just like last year.
It's going to be tough.

Tweets say Mack is warming up and stretching in game pants, appears set to play. Good news. Should have our best starting line available. Pashos graded out best of all linemen last week, BTW.

The way we have been playing I would say we'll get destroyed ....but we did have 2 weeks to prepare for this game, and the past couple of seasons we've been a totally different team after the bye, so I am holding out hope that we have a shot at this.

#Browns inactives: T. Lewis, C. Mitchell, J. Haden, E. Hagg, O. Cousins, J. Greco, J. Cameron... A. Mack to start at C

Without Mack AND Haden... this game could be very ugly. I hear where you're coming from TBPP

That's some relief. The line is going to need everything we can get this week, IMO. We're going to need a strong effort and Hillis is going to need to run some fierce to get us some production, something like 86 yards a game so far? We need more production than that from our running game if we're going to get anything done here.

I am going to lose my mind if we keep this crappy QB play up week in and week out.

Crappy QB play? The entire offense sucks. All of them. Line can't open holes, protect the QB. Running backs dancing instead of hitting whatever hole might be there. Receivers dropping passes, tripping/falling down, and running the wrong routes. QB looks shitty too.

Then, the ultra disciplined Shurmur-led team, has 12 men on the field on defense.

Good news? We're down a kickoff return TD.

Unreal. Not at all what you'd expect to see from 2 weeks of prep and gameplanning. Ugly so far.

Well that's five for five in terms of bad 1st halves for Coach Shurmur.

Again, I am not passing judgment but I sure as hell have yet to see a prepared team out there in Shurmur's first five games.

What's more alarming is the soft, undisciplined play that was getting eradicated under Eric Mangini. Pat Shurmur seems like a good guy, but the way this team has come out week in and week out has been very disappointing.

Don't want to hear the "lockout ruined his chances" excuse either. We just got our asses whipped by a new coach last week. We're getting our asses whipped physically by a new coach this week.

Frustrating.

Raiders are blitzing on nearly every obvious passing down and on many others.. The OL sucks a picking up the blitz.. Colt is running for his life nearly 80% of the time he drops back.. PICK UP THE BLITZ... Come on guys.. your horrible!!! How is the QB.. any QB supposed to do anything.. The recievers are running the wrong routes.. falling down.. Colt is getting Zero help ... Run game is not getting it done either.
