Our team is terrible in every aspect of the game. Offense , defense , and special teams. Those of you that don't think we are worse off than last year, consider this...........

We were bad before, but at least we had one of the best special team units to help compensate for it, we no longer have that.

We had a pretty good rushing attack, we no longer have that either. We lost Vickers, who couldn't catch, but was a beast in the run game. I have yet to see Marecic do anything at all. At least Vickers could contribute in blocking for Hillis.

By the way, each and every game Hillis becomes more distanced from this team, eventually he will be gone. Who do we have behind him? A guy that is one wrong hit away from a career-ending injury, and Armond Smith.

This team also lacks any kind of discipline what-so-ever. I have never seen a team not only give a game winning touchdown because the defense was milling around, but allow a PUNTER to throw his first pass (in his career) and it goes for a TOUCHDOWN We also barely squeaked by two teams who "Suck for Luck" So tell me, how exactly are we BETTER off this year?

Almost all of our defensive stats are really good. All of these are for the NFL, not AFC:

- 7th in total defense (yards per game)
- 4th in pass D (yards per game)
- 14th in scoring defense
- 11th in YPC rush defense (3.9... that's good)

Teams aren't running OR passing all that well on us. We just have a really bad offense. If our offseason isn't about offense first, primarily passing offense? Well, just shut down the fucking shop already.

With how bad our offense is, how long do you expect our defense to hold up? If they can keep up those numbers all year, then I will be impressed.

Hillis is already gone in my mind. I'll be very surprised if he signs an extension with this organization. He's had injuries but the way all this shit has been handled does nothing to keep him here.

On your whole post Neo. There are bright spots on this team. I don't like the fact that we seemed to have regressed from the past couple years where it looked like we were starting to take those steps to be a contender either but there are bright spots. Like BW said our D has been playing fairly well, they just give up big plays. We have young guys on our front 4 (FINALLY!!!). D'Qwell Jackson looks to be playing so much better when he's actually in his natural MLB position in the 4 - 3. Haden is the next Revis/Asougma shutdown corner. Ward is a beast. On offense we have the best LT in the league and a monster C in Thomas and Mach. Our WR's actually are getting better as the weeks go. We have Hillis but he's been plagued with injury and other bullshit thus far and it certainly looks like he is going to be leaving this team come the off-season. I just don't see how the bridges get repaired to keep him here.

With that being said, the offensive ineptitude stems from play calling and McCoy is just not looking good. Part of the reason why McCoy isn't looking good is our O-Line is made up of two studs and journeymen guys who will be in a different uniform come next year. Not making excuses but it seems like he's been pressured early way to often. Shurmur's play calling is also suspect and I really don't know why some HC's feel like they HAVE to call their own plays. Get a frikkin true OC in here next year.

While I have been encouraged by the defense, I'm not ready to buy into their stat sheet just yet. We've been gashed with too damn many big plays like letting McFadden rip off a 26 yard run when we had them pinned inside their own 15 yard line.

That said, I'm in full agreement with Shep: the defense has played well enough for us to have a winning record. Our offense is utterly inept and completely infuriating.

I may be wrong about our defense. If they continue to put up those numbers even if our offense continues to play like it does, I will be admit that I was wrong. But even with that said, I find it really hard to believe that we are better off than last season.

and yet we are 27th in total yards per game rushing defense. what does that mean? well while we don't give up many big runs, we give up many many many many 3-4 yards runs that allow teams to control the clock and beat us. Add to that we've played all pretty bad offenses. it's BAD

You can try to twist the facts anyway you want. this defense IS NOT GOOD.

We gave up 31, 27, and 24 in our losses, and we still gave up 19 to the Manningless Colts, and 16 to the Dolphins. I just don't see how this defense is good.

Anybody else find it weird that hold-out Chris Johnson just happened to get back on track in the game against us?

you have to pick the stats that support your conlcusion and then blame the offense and QB for the rest.
