Joe tested the knee Friday in practice, said it felt pretty good. Said the coaches left it up to him on wether he should play or not, will be a game time decision. Cornerback Joe Haden tests out knee in practice: Cleveland Browns Insider | cleveland.com |

I think this defense needs Joe Haden. Patterson is not a starter, I'm sorry, I don't even think he's better than Sheldon Brown. I know other posters were skeptical of him when we brought it on but I've seen very few plays made by Patterson. Patterson's made less plays than Sheldon Brown has made botches this season. Our secondary is a mess behind Haden/TJ Ward/Adams
__________________ BROWNS 2012: Its Weeden's job to lose, it was the second we took him #22 overall. We had a pretty good draft, and I'd like to start seeing some results. Fans already looking to next year and I don't blame them. I think we will have things to be excited about that we lacked last year and we have some real facepalm moments just like last year. It's going to be tough. We aren't Barking Hard for nothing. WOOF WOOF WOOF! ![]() |

Joe Haden is a very, very good corner and our best by a huge margin. But somebody somewhere said the Raiders game really showed how much we need him... I mean... we DO need him but the Raiders were 14/23 for 150 yards not counting Lechler. Scored most of their points on special teams. They didn't pass often or particularly well because, again, we can't score points and play teams with so-so QBs. |

Not your above-average Joe Joe Haden’s importance to the Browns defense is obvious and nobody expected Dimitri Patterson (-4.9) to play as well as he, but the point was really driven home by the Raiders’ quarterbacks all game long. Patterson was actually targeted more than every other player on the Browns defense combined and allowed 10 of the 13 passes thrown his way to be completed, good for 128 yards. He particularly struggled with improving receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey (+1.5), and was graded negatively in coverage on five plays while covering the speedy wideout. It wasn’t the speed of Heyward-Bey that Patterson couldn’t handle, though, it was his route-running. More than once Heyward-Bey received a large cushion from Patterson, only to pick up a quick first down when the quarterback hit him on a short curl route or a break over the middle. Patterson seemed content to sit back on the deeper routes and yield these shorter timing routes all game, whereas Browns fans are used to seeing Haden have the route recognition to come up and disrupt those timing routes. They might have to deal with Patterson’s style of play instead for at least another week as Haden may not be ready for week 7. Oh dear. |

So yes BW, the Raiders were 14/23 for 150 yards vs the Browns but were 10/13 for 128 yards vs Patterson. If that isn't a damning stat on a piss poor coverage corner I don't know what is. Think maybe Haden would of had some sort of impact in this game?

Thank you Joe Haden for showing up big today vs Seattle. What a difference tight man coverage, contesting the short throws, and your ability to come up behind the line of scrimmage to make tackles makes to our defense. IMO his ceiling is much higher than the original dawgs Dixon and Minnifield and has perrenial all-pro written all over him. |

A corner like Haden is worth that top pick 10 pick. He took a premier receiver out of the game today and changed what the offense wanted to do. It's a complete different defense with him in there. Defense stepped up big time today. Haden is the real deal. |
