How can he throw deep against a blitz rush when he can't trust is WRs to run the appropriate route?

This is partially why I suggest breaking out the sand-lot plays. Loosen the opposing D up, and maybe Colt gets a little more confidence (a lead would be nice, too), and then starts throwing to spots again instead of waiting to confirm first that the WR is going to run the right route.
Said it elsewhere, but it's gotta be first down throws downfield... and they have to be completed. But I agree that we're not strong at WR, period. Not fast anywhere and our most talented guy is really green.

Totally, absolutely agree. However we do it, there has to be at least SOME peril to stacking the box and blitzing the beer vendors. Right now there just isn't so that's the book on McCoy and the Browns offense.

If you're a DC, and you see a team that's last in plays over 20 yards and a quarterback with the lowest QBR against pressure... what're you gonna do?

Seattle is a BAD pass defense, so they're going to throw every sink in the house at us, blitz wise. It's kind of a Come to Jesus game for McCoy. And keeping it spiritual, thank GOD we aren't playing Baltimore or Pittsburgh any time soon.

Jim's watching Foles Gold.

I know, Momass is Rice-esque with his route running, dude is like inside Colt's head or something. Seriously, how can a kid so smart like Mo have zero football sense?

I've been on record for some time now about MoMass on field awareness/thinking. I haven't seen a marked improvement this year but the sample size is alarmingly small. Again, chicken and egg: is the sample size small because of Colt/scheme/protection or because MoMass is making mistakes with route depths/hot reads/etc?

What's stood out to me most about McCoy is that he seems scattershot - a lot like Anderson. And his accuracy for any sort of deep passes seems to be sorely lacking (he is mostly overthrowing his receivers).

Special teams was AWFUL. The KO for TD and fake-field goal were the game-losers. Without them, the Raiders O put up 10 points all day.

Foles. He's good. Quirky offense pushes him later in round 1, though.

Hey, I wanted a veteran WR, too.
