I figured I'd update you guys on a team that's doing infinitely better, and that's my sons Tiny Mite Bengals team.
As most of you know I have two boys (8,9) and they've been playing football together for the last 3 years. Well this year my oldest had to move up to the next level if he was going to play, and he wasn't too keen on playing without his old man coaching and his lil' bro next to him, so he opted to do karate this year.
For my youngest, he saw this as an opportunity to play outside of big bro's shadow for once. I know it comes off as parental bragging, but my boys are both really good at football. However my oldest Nick always just played two levels above everybody else so he always got all the attention. This year it was little brothers turn, and man he's made the most of it.
First of all when it was time to pick jersey numbers he took his brothers old number and said "I'm the beast now!" (the beast being Nick's nickname) and he ran with it.
I'll be uploading a brief highlight video of him in the next week or so from a game we played against the cowboys. He plays DT, and he has been absolutely DOMINANT at that position. Watching the game tape of that game you would think you were watching a 10 year vet play the position. He met the offensive linemen at the point of attack, held him up to see where the ball was going, then would shed the blocker and make the tackle, and in one case where he could quite get rid of the linemen, he just said fuck the dumb shit, and took both of them down at the same time. It really was a thing of beauty.
For that game he registered 12 tackles, and 1 sack....playing DEFENSIVE TACKLE!!
This kid not only played like a madman, but he practiced like one, which made all the world difference. He really showed me how much heart he's got this year.
The entire team has played lights out. We are currently 6-1, and we beat our two biggest rivals this year (the cowboys we have never beat in our entire history going back to 1994!)
I told his older brother to watch out cause he's gonna have his hands full next year when we move up to Mighty mite.
Anyway, here are some pics

The start of October, the boys wore pink socks for breast cancer, and my son wasn't too thrilled. He said, this sock will be black by halftime, and this picture was taken....at halftime

Halftime!
