REALLY good defense, much better than Seattle: - 2nd in rushing yards (74.7/game) - 6th in YPA (3.6) - Tied for 3rd in sacks (17), which almost always leads to... - 6th in DQBR, 77-ish And on the road. It's a tough one... and their offense is diverse and starting to gel. |

Shep... Alex Smith has played well. He's also played pretty poorly in games and the teams won in spite of him. Take the Lions game for instance. He was 17/32 53.1% for 125 yards. Had one td to one pick, and had a fumbled lost. Not saying he hasn't improved this season cause he has. But IMO hes still Alex Smith.... an inconsistent NFL qb.

Alex Smith..is a passenger..His QBR is in direct correllation to the run game, the D, and the special teams carrying the load, .not him.. He got a gift from Detroit last week..he had ONE good drive which was enough for them to win..but the Alex Smith is not LEADING the 49ers. He probably has had more short field opportunites than any other QB in the league. Smith was 17 of 32 for a whopping 125 yards last week. His QBR was 53.1 Very Derick Anderson-like production. and yet San Fran won.. Lucky. He's only thrown for more than 201 yards ONE time this whole season. If we can force the Smith to have to carry the team.. we have our best chance to win in SanFran..but that means we must stop the run and score.. Neither are easy tasks. Otherwise Smith only needs not to give it away to us... He is a good game manager. He's actualy the 25th rated passer in passing yards.. = passenger not driver.. . QBR is a misleading stat in this guys case.. I've been watching. He's not been very good... He really has only needed not to lose the games. We need to make this guy throw the ball.. alot

You've watched him and he's not very good? I have no idea what you were watching, because he's looked even better than his numbers. He tore up the Eagles in the second half. Detroit game wasn't great... until he won it with a last minute fourth down TD pass. He's over 100 for his last 9 starts... and the Niners are winning. It's what WE want!! Quote:
